I moved to Florida recently myself for the drastic change of scenery. If you want to attend a 4 year public university down here, make sure you take steps to establish residency as soon as you get down. It take 12 months from the time of moving to the first day of class to qualify for residency for tuition purposes. So your best bet would be to find a job to occupy yourself for about a year.

I've been through the exact same bullshit as you have.
The best thing i've found to do when there is nothing left of a person that you find redeemable is to just completely wash your hands of them.
Don't bother having contact with them because it just isn't worth it anymore.
