Workouts are working. Dropped a belt loop yesterday. Fit better in to button-down shirt than I ever have before. Getting up at 5:00 every day is a good thing too, I think (except for today... slept in until 6:30 after playing Delta Green late into the evening... I blame Brett). Genuinely looking forward to my run tomorrow morning. Should be the warmest yet for us in the wee hours of the AM. Also, I got a new job offer. I think I'm going to take it, because I don't want to sit around all summer and wonder if I'm going to be laid off because the state doesn't know how to raise taxes to cover state expenses (gg, state). There's probably more, but I have to go shower.

It has come to my attention that I haven't been on here enough lately. This is in all parts true. My apologies to one and all for my lack of presence. I will attempt to remedy this situation to the best of my ability starting immediately.

So, a few quick updates: my Scholastic Bowl team has it's "Regional" tournament (I say regional in quotations because somehow, our regional was scheduled for a venue 2 1/2 hours away) this coming Monday. My lovely wife has decided to accompany us on our trip. I fear for her sanity and shall do my best to protect her. Also, speaking of my wife, we're both reading through the Harry Potter books, in order, for the first time ever. I've personally seen all of the movies multiple times, but had never bothered to read the books until now. I'm rather enjoying myself and I know she is too. And while I'm on the subject of books, I just finished the latest edit of a good friend's quite skillfully-written novel. It's pretty fun stuff. Oh, and I started tutoring this week for real-life cashy-money. Any supplemental income is good income.

After an incredibly long day yesterday, I am most happy to report that not only did we win our first round game (against a team that we had already lost to twice this season, no less), but we went on to win our second round game as well! This means we'll be heading back for the semi-finals in late March.

This is a huge morale booster for me and the team. Heading into yesterday's tournament we had a record of 1-7 on the season. Not exactly awe-inspiring. I'm supremely proud of my team's effort and I hope that we can continue to do well as the season draws to a close. Perhaps we'll be able to end on a high note and have that carry over to next year.

Must go to bed earrrrrrrly tonight. Have to be up at 5 AM to round up bleary-eyed teenagers and take them to a Scholastic Bowl tournament over an hour away. If we win our first match, we play again in the afternoon and that match will be taped for later broadcast.
