Hello SG friends, I've been so busy lately and I would like to catch you up on what's going on. Yesterday I held a protest against Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus. I was so excited and nervous but it went great. There was seven of us there and some of use held poster's and some handed out leaflets and some held banners. PETA was kind enough to send all materials I needed for free. The banners they sent to me were awesome, one had a picture of a baby elephant being tied down and made to perform stupid tricks that are so unnatural to them. Elephant trainers use a bullhook (resembles a fireplace poker) to inflict pain and punishment. Baby elephants are torn away from their mothers while they are still nursing and break their spirits with ropes, chains, and electrical prods.
Plain and simple animals don't belong in circuses it's a outdated, unnecessary, and cruel practice that only teaches our kids that it's ok to abuse, torture, and exploit animals for entertainment. It does not teach our kids to appreciate, respect, and have compassion for animals. Please support animal free circuses and visit RinglingBeats.
Today was my second day attending the protest and I'm planning to be there all the days the circus is here. On Sunday will be the last show and then the Elephants will be walked to the train station and they will get into their boxcar and away they go to another city for many other shows. The other activist and I will be following them there holding posters and video taping the trainers hitting the animals. I will keep you informed and let you know how things went:
