cooking is almost entirely trial and error. So, this time it was sticky and tasteless, next time you make it, it'll be just one of those things. Then, the third time's the charm and you'll have lovely spaghetti. 
At least that's how it's supposed to work. I still have things that I continue to try and cook and they don't turn out very well
