My Mom fell yesterday morning, breaking her right ankle. They did surgery on it today, putting in a plate and 5 screws. Mom is 83 and this will be a big set back, not to mention that she'll be in the hospital through and at least some days after Christmas. It sure won't be a normal Christmas for our family. Bummer.

Hope all of you...

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum... and at Christmas too.
Wishing her a speedy recovery. Sending healing thoughts as I type.

This year seems to have been really awful for a lot of people.
It's been the worst year of my life by a long chalk! But I'm still here.

Here's wishing for a much better 2007 for all !! smile

Take care, and enjoy things as much as is possible.

I had a hectic weekend and Monday, with little sleep and little to eat. Mostly because of some stress that popped up. I think I'll be getting to bed early tonight or at least earlier than normal for me. I can take a day or 2 of mostly sleepless nights, but by about the 3rd or 4th night it starts to wear on me. Luckily,...

what kind of dog is that on your profile pic? He is adorable!
maxi:
it was like 80 yesterday! sunny, blue clouds, wait till i get the pix up from yesterday. I am convinced i should be living in the country... thought the bugs could be a sercious deterrent from that decision. see if you can get the recipe, as far as i know its just oats, brown sugar, butter, and apples, lemon juice or orange, and i top it with homeade whipped cream.

OK.....so after thinking it over and a little push from a friend, I've decided to stick around here for awhile longer.

Besides, winter will be here before we know it, and I'll need something to fill my time on those cold, snowy, blustery days.

smile
mrgoose:
Glad to hear that your sticking around for a little while. Things do tend to pick up on here once the weather gets a little colder.
annalee:

My subscription/membership here runs out on the 25th of September.....I don't think I'll be renewing it. It's been a great run, but the traffic here on my journal has slowed down to a snail's crawl, so I think it may be time to move on.

Leave me a message somehow or some way, if you'd like to have my email to keep in touch with...

Well, well, well......another Monday rolls around!

Last Thursday was the day for a fresh haircut....not sure why a haircut always seems to please me so...but it does. I've had this notion to move my downstairs TV, upstairs to my bedroom....so I thought while I was in the city, I'd do a little TV shopping/price comparing for a replacement TV for downstairs. I stopped at the...

Ok i admit i did most of the edititng at work, not at home, i have had my laptop with me for the past few days at work, and i do it on lunch breaks and such.
BTW what do you do for work?
twwly:
Great info, thank you!

People (around these parts anyway) who skin instead of pluck say to chill the birds for easier skinning. Since nobody really wants dead chicken smell in their freezers, they kill them on an early cold morning, and by the time they're done having breakfast they say the birds have cooled enough to skin.

We also have neigbors who, instead of gutting, skin and remove the wings/thighs/breast/butt and leave then compost the whole carcass (guts still in). What do you think about that method? I assume you gut them because you are freezing the bird whole right?

If I'm reading your post correctly, you found the cooler birds harder to skin?

Can I ask what method you used to kill your birds?

Well.....so, since it's been awhile since I've posted to my journal, I thought I'd write about all the exciting and interesting stuff that has been going on with me, since I last posted.....

Someone got a hold of one of my credit card numbers and started using it. Luckily, I caught one of the transactions on my bill and one of the companies that had an online order from the creep using my number, thought the order was a little hinky and tracked me down and gave me a call to confirm if I was actually the one...

My dad recently had his credit card number stolen, wasn't too happy about it but everything turned out alright in the end. There sure seems to be quite a bit of identity theft going around lately.

Hmmmmmmmm.....guess I should update this thingy.

We had a nice rain in the night, last night. Almost 3/4 of an inch of much needed rain. Also, some nice thunder along with it......for some reason, thunder is very comforting to me at night.....it interrupts my sleep, but helps me sleep well at the same time.....curious.

Anyway, more rain is coming......so it will be a quiet, rainy...

Remy it was fun. Good to see a real person on here. Will be back in Wisconsin sometime in August for good. Catch me on MySpace if you wish (search for Gersguy).

Birds' nests are amazing! I love examining them and thinking about how they were constructed. So cool!

You asked what the lettuce wraps were... There just minced chicken and spices, some fried noodles, and a half a head of iceberg lettuce. You peel off a piece of lettuce, and pile on some chicken, add some hot soy sauce stuf, and wrap it up. It's so delicious!

I've been enjoying the fireflies, too. Goose and I like to catch them during our walks around the neighborhood; they just ride along on your hands until they're ready to take off.

What the hell is going on around here?

Has everyone got the summertime blues?

I can't seem to get a comment to save my life the last couple of weeks!

I know what you mean, KikiBH and I had a discussion about this very subject the other day. I think it has a lot to do not only with the new set-up of the site (which a lot of people don't seem to like, including me) and the time of year. I've noticed that the number of commments seem to go down once the warm weather arrives and people start doing more things outside.
laceyglove:
i'm sorry. i just haven't been on here that much. i don't like the site anymore. not so much the changes but i guess i think it's lame. and i'm not picking at or calling people who still love this site lame, i just am out doing more and hardly on here. but you can always email me. i'll be on until july 3. kiss

Hmmmm.....something seems different here....can't quite put my finger on it....oh well!

I had a dull, dull weekend. The best part of the weekend was the food. Had wonderful catfish fillets for dinner on Sunday, along with my fav vegetable dish. I take a bag of frozen Calif. blend and a bag of stir fry veggies with noodles and combine them both in a large round...

My parents have been growing raspberries for the past couple of years now, I always make sure I grab a handful whenever I am over there. The only problem is I have to fight the birds for em.

Don't even get me started on honeysuckle, I love the smell of it so much.
laceyglove:
I love honeysuckle. it's so nice catching a whiff of it,faintly in the breeze. it reminds me of childhood memories, hey, i should be in guns n roses. Sweet!

coffee is the life, i tell ya. a good cup that is. my husband is the coffee man, we call him the cha chi man, (we have lots of names for things, hence cheeba being my nephew, but cha chi is coffe and also icecream. it can be a bit tricky biggrin )

have a super weekend my friend. kiss
