I've got a giant, painful swollen gland in my neck. I did it to myself with my nervous habits that I need to cut out.

Things have been hectic with the band, so I keep forgetting that I need to find some work. I keep dropping the ball. I just need a tiny little job for a little bit of income. I just barely missed getting in touch with a friend of mine about doing part time reception at a local hipster hair salon/barber shop. I'm kind of sad about it b/c it would have been fun, low stress, and fit into this silly life of mine.

I got 5 copies of my bands new record the other day. They are promo copies with the UPC punched out. It is very strange, yet very rewarding to have it in front of me. I keep staring at it even though I started at it long enough while designing large parts of it and laying the whole thing out....it's just different when you see it in person.

I am on a diet. I'm doing South Beach. I feel like a doof for admitting it, but it is actually quite a good way to eat. Last night I was dying for Trader Joes chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels though. Usually heathy eating helps to prevent that as for the last 6 months I've been eating pretty crappy and not getting enough excercise. Aging doesn't help either.... I hope my body still responds to getting in shape....the results are taking longer than before, but they do say that every decade adds some weight....

oink

P.S. Anyone need some Photoshop stuff done? I've got Photoshop CS. I know color management. biggrin

Man, oh man. I just ate way too much Easter candy. Bad, Roxy, bad!

I had been so good with exercising and eating well too! Damn!

Did a photo shoot yesterday. It was a pain in the ass, but fun.

Wheeee.

Edited to add something a bit more important regarding the upcoming vote on the “Prevention First Amendment”:

Please call your senator in support. http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

This amendment is scheduled to be voted on THIS week and will set aside $100 million dollars for programs that will prevent unintended pregnancy.

The Prevention First Amendment will achieve the following four goals:

(1) Contraceptive equity: This section is modeled on the Equity in Prescription Insurance and Contraceptive Coverage Act (S.2336 in the 108th Congress). Health-insurance plans that cover prescription drugs should cover prescription contraception equally. The Reid-Clinton Prevention Amendment sets aside funds to pay initial costs in achieving contraceptive equity.

(2) Family-planning services: The Title X ("ten") program helps low-income women afford birth-control services, but President Bush has starved its funding. The Reid-Clinton Prevention Amendment adds funds to the program so it can serve more people, prevent more unintended pregnancies, and reduce the need for abortion.

(3) Teen-pregnancy prevention programs: The United States has one of the developed world's highest teen-pregnancy rates. President Bush's solution is to censor information from young people about birth control and condoms through "abstinence-only" programs. Sens. Reid and Clinton want to give young people the information and services they need to abstain AND to know how to protect themselves against

disease and unintended pregnancy. This amendment funds new teen-pregnancy prevention programs across the country.

(4) Emergency contraception: The "morning-after pill" can prevent pregnancy after sex, but too few women and doctors know about it. Also known as emergency contraception, the "morning-after pill" is NOT the same as mifepristone, or RU 486. It is simply a concentrated dose of the birth-control pill, taken after sex. The Reid-Clinton Prevention Amendment funds a public-education campaign to boost public awareness of this best-kept secret in birth control.

(Note: The Prevention Amendment also earmarks another $100 million for deficit reduction.)

Currently in Massachusetts at my parents house. There is snow on the ground and I got to go cross country skiing yesterday. It had been so very long and i love cross country skiing so much.

My Mom seems well, but it is so hard seeing her get so exhausted and so strange to see her with no hair. She's so lovely regardless....and still laughs and laughs.

She planned a huge dinner tonight with two of my cousins and my aunt. Looots of pasta, wine, and drunken oranges for dessert. My cousin Quemby is a blast. She insists that she, my Mom and i head out for a girls night. I think that would be great myself. I had not seen Quemby since i was 16, so it had been a while. Of course, a girls night would depend on what Mom is up for.

Matthew will be out here on Tuesday and will be guest spotting at Chameleon Tattoo in Cambridge in the Garage next to Newberry Comix. I'm so excited for him doing such a thing and so greatful for him coming out this way. He's such wonderful support....such a wonderful person to have i my life.

I am a lucky girl.

I am in Seattle. I've been here for 2 weeks.

My band has finished recording it's second album and it is currently being mixed. I think it might be pretty damn good. It's hard to tell on some level because it's been so difficult to get to this point and it's so hard to judge your own work. But, I do think it might be good.

We've been staying at the studio where there is no shower, so I feel a bit yukky as I haven't showered since Saturday. I've been sleeping in the RV. I miss my beautiful boy and his boy as well. But, I will be home soon with an album in the can so everything is good.

I'm pretty used to not showering, sleeping in weird places, etc. Rock is not glamourous.

I spent the whole time being very good and drinking lots of water, no coffee, and no alchol. The day after I finished I had lots of coffee and lots of wine. I've been showing some of my favorite pretty girls on this site to the band boys and the producer/engineer. That's been very fun. biggrin

Tonight is karaoke....

Well, it's time for a mix listen so I must go...

I have to wean myself off of sugar. Sugar is my drug. I'm going to give myself diabetes. I was just sitting in front of the computer munching on a bag of chocolate chips.

Any suggestions?

I think I probably say the same thing every few entrys, but i need to get back into shape. I also need to figure out what to do for freelance work in the midst of all the (non-paying) band chaos.

I used to photo assist, so I could get back to doing that a little. That's been one of the plans, but I've been putting off getting in touch with people until the holidays were over. Then the holidays ended and i went to SF to start recording. I can also do primitive web design (I put together www.adornbodyart.com ) and very good photoshop manipulation and any other post production stuff. Oh, yeah, I'm also a commercial photographer.

Why am I listing all these things? I'm not sure. I think I'm just reminding myself as to where I can try and scrape together some work.

So yeah, gym. Yoga. Health. I've been meaning to get going on this stuff forever. I used to go to the gym 5 days a week and was in super good shape, but gyms are painfully boring. Yoga is fantasic, but last time I did it I pulled my back, so i'm a bit scared of it at the moment. This is aside from the fact that i think I need to be in a bit better shape to even start it. That stuff's hard!

I've been doing pretty well at the healthy food though and it's not just for me. My mom was diagnosed with lymphoma just last month and has already had two chemo treatments. It's all gone that fast. She just had to shave her head a couple of days ago and was very sad about doing so. (Oh, she hated it so much when I used to shave most of my head in high school.) I told her that I had thought about cutting my hair in support, but had decided on eating in support instead. Lots of whole grains, and nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. She was so pleased and we've started sending info back and forth for eachother.

I will be heading back East to visit and help her and my father after we finish recording next month. I can't wait to get into the kitchen. I also can't wait to hear the words I long for: remission. I try to keep her laughing every time i can. Their strength astounds me.
