Well things are good. Had a great time at the Phoenix Comi-Con with my good friends Joe and Mike(they're the 2 guys I do the podcast with). We saw a bunch of cool stuff, met a few cool people and I ran into almost everyone I wanted to see(my friends that I knew were going to be there) I missed a few people but I kinda knew I would.
We saw a bunch of cool panels:
1. Manu Bennett who plays Deathstroke in Arrow, Azog in the Hobbit movies and played Crixus in Spartacus. He was really funny and told awesome stories about filming for the Hobbit movies. At the end of the panel he brought about 35-40 people onto the stage and he showed them how to do a Maori Warrior war dance called a Haka. It was pretty intense. You could hear him all the way in the back of the room without a mic.
2. John Rhys-Davies who of course is Sallah from the Indian Jones movies and Gimli from the Lord of the Rings films. He was a pretty cool dude, he started off talking about how we shouldn't let young people drink and do drugs until their brains fully develop so they don't stunt the growth that happens between 13 to about 30. Then he said go nuts but be safe. He also called it wacky-tabacy. His stories were hilarious and he's really into astronomy and expanding your mind into the far out.
3. Richard Dean Anderson, fucking MacGyver and Jack O'Neill from the Stargate TV series. Ue was amazing, besides being completely high on back medicine because of recent surgery. He made a dick joke and a boner reference when he tried to place the mic back in the stand. He also talked about pranking people around the sets, especially with farts, dude loves farts.
4. Batman 66 with Batman himself Adam West, his trusty sidekick Robin Burt Ward and the lovely Catwoman Julie Newmar. They were pretty entertaining. I'm almost positive Julie was drunk(which is cool with me, except it was only 10:30am). She called Burt fat to his face, which seemed mean. They were asked if the 3 of them still get together for dinner and hangout. Adam said "No, because they never pickup the check". (pointing at Burt and Julie). Then Julie said "No! He always eats our lunches and dinners!" (pointing to Burt)
5. John Barrowman who plays Malcolm Merlin on Arrow and Captain Jack Harkness on Doctor Who/Torchwood. Not much to say here, except he was FANTASTIC!!!! He has this crazy connection to his fans. It's awesome to watch hi, light up with every question asked. He sang, danced and regaled the audience with tales from Arrow to Doctor Who. Dude loves messing with his fellow actors. If you're ever at a convention and he's there go try to see or meet him.
6.Bruce Campbell which we all know. I've seen him a bunch of times at all different conventions. He's a goddamn blast every time. He has this way of mocking his fans in a way that borders on mean but is funny as hell and because he's Bruce Campbell he can do it. Whenever he does conventions the first thing he likes to do is pull anyone who's cosplaying as Ash onto the stage and rate their costumes in front of the rest of the crowd. Telling one guy he doesn't have enough blood and telling another that he has too much. Again if you get a chance to see him, do it. You'll thank me.
7. Steven Amell who plays Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow on Arrow. He was awesome too! He's pretty new to the leading man role but he does it better than most. He's super down to earth and loves his fans. He was super engaged in answering all the questions he could fit in. He told stories of being pranked by John Barrowman on the set of Arrow and even dropped some spoilerish hints for season 3. Just in case you haven;t seen Arrow yet, change that now. It's the best superhero show since Batman the Animated series.
8. Nathan Fillion who is the greatest ship Captain in all the Verse, Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds from Firefly and Serenity. As well as Richard Castle on Castle. He was phenomenal!!! He did this thing after the first question was asked he said "Well if you've seen me at one of these things before, you know I like to give out gifts. Well I don't have anything with me. So here have my watch." Then took off his watch and gave it to the lady that asked the question. Then the next question was asked and he said "Well I just gave away my watch to the last lady." He looked around for something to give out. "All I have is this bracelet. I can't give you this the person who made it for me I'll be seeing later and I don't want to make her mad". Then the moderator said "Here give them mine". And took it off and Nathan gave it to the kid. Then while the 3rd question was being asked I noticed that on the big screen Nathan was wearing a watch again. He had a bag of watches and he kept giving them out after each question. Eventually he ran out and started to give away bottles of water to the questioners. It was unbelievable. He just played it off like he wasn't putting a watch on after each question.
