The Smell of sweat, blood and weed was so thick you could cut it with a knife...but you could never get the knife clean again...
Yesterday, Feb, 26, 2006, I attended my first rock concert. It featured the new band 10 Years (a promising bunch of lads), and the rock legends Mudvayne and KoRn.
oh
My
FUCKING
GODS
It was arguably one of the best nights of my life. I rocked, I moshed, I fell, I bled, I kicked ass.
I was accually impressed with 10 Year's performance, considering I have only heard their single "Wasteland". I see lots of promise for these guys, and I MIGHT spend money on their album "The Autumn Effect". They rocked pretty hard.
Mudvayne was even better than I expected. I havent been impressed by some of the live stuff I have heard so far. But I have been wrong before.
They opened with the song that started me down the path I now occupy: "Not Falling". They moved on to play classics such as "Dig" and "Nothing to Gein", as well as the new favorites like "Mercy, Severity", "Pushing Through" and the song I have dreamed about rocking out to since I saw the music video "Determined". During the rockage, a girl in a wheelchair was crowd-surfed. The lead singer expressed his approval by saying "I bet she was real fuckin' HAPPY!!!". With that they erupted with the classic "Happy" off their newest album. With that, they ended their wild set.
During that intense rockage, I was king of the Mosh Pit for about ten seconds. I was jumping in the air, egging any brave motherfuckers who wanted to take me on. This one punk with glasses charged at me, and I knocked his ass down. I helped him up, and then 6 others charged in, and more moshing ensued.
Then the Legends themselves came on. KoRn opened up with "It's on", which really got the pits going. They played all their classic, and alot of their new stuff, and even some stuff I havent heard before. The rockage went on with "Falling away from me", "Coming Undone", "Clown", "Trash", "Make Me Bad", "Here to Stay" and (my personal fav) "Got the Life". They then came on stage with the bagpipes and started a collage of songs with "Shoots and Ladders", "A.D.I.D.A.S.", "Thoughtless", "Twist", "Hypocrites" among others. They then came on for an encore set of "Twisted Transistor", "Freak on a Leash", and they ended with "Blind".
During the last (and biggest) pit that was moshing to "Blind", I got knocked down pretty damned hard, and I felt a dull pain in my left ear. Touching it, I saw spots of blood on my hand: my new stud had been ripped straight out.
My new piercing has been sacrificed to the Pit.
I bought an overpriced Mudvayne tour shirt and a large KoRn armband...this is prolly the last time I buy gear at concerts. But I'm not complaining.
This was indeed a big deal for me, since Mudvayne started me down the musical I am now addicted to with "Not Falling", and KoRn bolstered my love for the genre with "Thoughtless" and "Freak on a Leash".
This was one special night for me
