Today I wrote my CRM exam and my bio lab exam. The bio one was easy, it was just a fifteen question spot test. The CRM one was a lot harder. I had to write three essays, and I knew a lot, but I'm not sure if I knew enough. I just sort of wrote down everything I could remember.
I've never explained it, but CRM stands for Cultural Resource Management. It's also referred to as Archaeological Resource Management. It's contract archaeology. Before any big project, in both the US and Canada (and other countries, but we only learn about those two) you have to preform an archaeological survey of the region in question, to determine if there are any remains, and if any are worth saving. There is a very interesting law in the US that states that any governmentally funded project must spend at least 1% of its budget on CRM work. That might not sound like a lot, but if you have projects costing hundreds of millions of dollars, it can get to be a lot of money.
Oh well, one exam tomorrow. Then I'm done.
