I love moments like this in life: I am integrating my online life with my concert life. I am at the Slumber Duluth, and my posse nabbed a great space in front of the mellow music stage.
So far, Alan Sparkhawk( from the band Low ) played with this crazy dude with a pimped out banjo. This banjo had 3 extra tuning knobs, and had a total of 18 strings. He played it both as a banjo, a Sonic Youth toy, and a percussion instrument.
A Whisper In The Noise played next, and rocked it gothy/NIN style, as usual. So beautiful, so dark.
Dirty Knobs (from Duluth) played, although I missed half of it due to listening to music on my laptop on my headphones, and turning my head to realize that Dirty Knobs dude was playing his set....on his laptop.....with his headphones on.
Cloud Cult played next (sorry Pinko!) without their bassist. Their previous one just had a baby, and apparently taking care of it is more important. They were awesome as usual, and I bought their rarities album.
Speaking of albums, my friend Cat bought a CD by a local guy called Tim Kaiser, who makes electronic doohickey music. Pretty cool stuff....we missed him, cuz he played first.
Now, it's getting mellower as the last normal acts play: acoustic dude, mellow(I hope) laptop music, etc. Later, Alan Sparhawk, Aaron Molina (If Thousands....and he organized this) and anybody from the other bands will jam from 2:30 am to about 7am.....should provide good fodder for creative dreams. As usual, Kiki will steal all of mine.
Wireless is good. Someday, energy will be wireless.
But, since I forgot my charger in Minneapolis , I will shut down and continue tomorrow.
P.S. I will comment on people's journals tomorrow.
P.P.S. Two great bands that play pretty music. Hem and PS Both just released stupendous albums.
P.P.S.S. The SGTC subjects are a bit stale lately......dance for us Neo! And put your back into it!
