Hey SG,

I hope this finds you well and good.

So lets hypothetically that a part of my life - one of my favorite bits, actually - was over as of tonight. Lets say that my continuing knee pain means that I am never able to run again.

I would feel angry at the world for letting people get old and start falling apart, slowly,...

Hey SG Friends and Neighbors,

I hope this finds you well and good.

I really want some practice writing/ thinking in this format, so I am jumping on the ten fact bandwagon, along with what seems like most of the site.

One - I am really bad at lying EXCEPT around Christmas time, when I become a kind of super sneaky gift confidence artist, using...

Hey SG World,

I hope this finds you well and good.

So after months and months of trying every venue I could to find a job - LinkedIn, Monster, ZipRecruiter, endless searches on Craigslist and similar sites, the local paper's online site, and so many more, twenty to thirty hours a week of it - I saw a Help Wanted sign in a window, went...

Congrats on the job. I know what you mean about the job search. I hit the point where I dread hitting enter to send off the application as I know it is pointless and just sends the application off into the ether and I have spent 20 minutes I will never get back.

Hey there,

Its your old friend Punkinhead, back to put some more words down.

So my life just keeps getting busier and busier. My schedule keeps getting more and more hectic. This spring/ summer is going to be insane. I bought myself a planner today so I can get a birds-eye view of what I have to do over the next couple of months, and...

And I still hate my dog.

This morning I put her in time out in her crate for chasing the cat all morning. Once this was done, I went down stairs to put the kettle on and I saw that she had gotten into the garbage, found my wife's used tampon, taken it to the couch and ripped it apart there. Its amazing - she...

Sorry the dog is not responding. Maybe try a dog whistle? Or training collar. Those are the only things that worked for a friend training his dog not to attack the cat.
punkinhead:
@iggy Bobbi is also an "underwear fan." She actually chewed up two pairs so far . . . And she also has that chase instinct that you mentioned - she goes after squirrels, like all dogs, but also after any birds she sees, which I have never seen in a dog before. I will say that we have had some very big strides this week, and Bobbi is getting much better at ignoring the cat. I am feeling hopeful about this for the first time!

I hate my dog.

We got her at Christmas. I instantly didn't like her but my wife fell in love. I initially said no thanks, but after my wife obsessed over it for three days, threatening to ruin my holiday, I relented.

And I was right. The dog sucks.

Its not the dog's fault. She is a rescue dog, she has been bounced from situation...

I bet that was rough, @grumpyemt . I don't think I can do it. And I really do believe that in a year or so (that would be three hundred and sixty five fucking days), if we keep up with her training she will probably be fine. Le sigh. You should see her and my wife - the missus sleeps holding it like a teddy bear. If I said the dog has to go I would feel like a combination of Scrooge, Cruella de Vil, and that jagoff that wouldn't give Oliver Twist any more oatmeal.
grumpyemt:
I totally understand. I felt horrible taking the cat back but spending anothe $200 for duct cleaning to get rid of the cat urine smell from where it would pee in the heating and a/c floor vents I only felt midly awful

I wrote this long, ooh pity me blog post . . .and just deleted it. Fuck it.

ph

iggy:
Sometimes, it's cathartic to just write it and get it out, even if you end up deleting it in the end. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've done just that.
punkinhead:
Thanks @iggy .  I can say I feel a lot better now!

Okay, so all the sudden in the last three weeks I picked up a bunch of small jobs - two writing gigs, an editing gig, a social media management gig, and what looks like a part-time job for the city. Hooray! But I'm a bit intimidated by having my time split up like this - I am afraid I am going to forget something important....
