Hello all,
I usually try not to send forwards, but this is something I care very deeply about. Please take some time to sign this petition if you feel the same way.
The senate will be voting on a bill that will allow drilling in the Arctic refuge within the next 48 hours. There is a grassroots effort underway to block the bill. Please sign this petition to keep the Arctic refuge wild and free from drilling and pollution. Urge congress to spend more money to develop alternative non-impacting fuel sources. Here are a few facts about the Arctic Refuge:
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge's 19 million acres comprise one of the last places on earth where an intact expanse of arctic and sub arctic lands remains protected.
Drilling in the Arctic Refuge can't make even a small dent in meeting America's energy needs. U.S. Geological Survey scientists estimate that there is very likely only enough oil to supply America's needs for six months. And oil companies admit that, even that, won't be available for at least 10 years.
An irreplaceable natural treasure, the Arctic Refuge is home to caribou, polar bears, grizzly bears, wolves, golden eagles, snow geese and more. Millions of other birds use the Arctic Refuge to nest and as a critical staging area on their migratory journeys.
The Arctic Refuge supports more than wildlife. For a thousand generations, the Gwich'in people of Northeast Alaska and Northwest Canada have depended on it and lived in harmony with it. To them, the Arctic Coastal Plain is sacred ground.

Phoenix 4-1-1: I don't own a car, a cellular phone, or a television and I am a vegetarian. Cars contribute to greenhouse gasses/global warming, cellular phones have been proven to cause brain tumors (and besides, they keep people standing mere feet away from actually communicating with each other instead of the little voice inside the box), television is crap, and animals are mistreated and injected with hormones. Want more information? Just ask!
