Dear everyone,
Take a moment away from your raging "Oboners" and please remember the fact that politics is FUCKED UP.
I refer you to the elections in 2000, and 2004 for reference. Would you like a further demonstration of voter fraud? Please check out season 2, episode 7 of Brotherhood "Only a Pawn ..." for further explanation (available on itunes, and maybe even for free on showtimes web site). Yes, it's a tv show, and it's only a state election in the episode, but as someone from RI, I can tell you that I've experienced some of the blatant voter manipulation going on in this episode personally. Voter fraud is everywhere, and if people think they can get away with it, they will. And that's just a district wide election. Think about the resources a presidential campaign has, not to mention the crazy as shit people supporting the campaign.
What's an optimistic citizen to do? Educate yourself. Understand your rights as a voter, go into your polling place prepared so you don't get caught off guard.
I know it's a little late in the game for a pep talk, and I'm sick of talking about politics, but really, there's no getting away from it. I'm pretty sure even the peeps at the Obama campaign are operating under the belief that nothing is set in stone, even after the special last night (which I will admit, I was moved a bit, but only a bit), his success in polls, and McCain's failure as a human being.
So, just expect the unexpected. But by all means, hope for the best. AND VOTE YOU FUCKERS!!!!
xoxo
Perdita
p.s. If you live in California, please vote no on 8. It sets a precedent for the rest of the country one way or the other. And really, shouldn't gay people be allowed to experience the horrors of married life as much as straight people? Also, RI-ers, please vote yes on question 2: "This November 4th, remember to vote yes on the Open Space and Recreational Development Bond. $2.5 million from our state will go a long way - for every $1 that Rhode Island contributes to the bond, the state will generate $3-4 more dollars from the federal government, foundations, and charitable contributions. That's a pretty sound investment to preserve our natural landscape and farmland!" Basically local farms are cool and you should help them.
p.p.s. longest blog in a while. how about that.

Well, la-dee-da, Ms. Gainfully Employed.

It was eloquent. You had me at the part where you didn't ask me to vote for your set in member review, though.
