The semester is ending and so is my time in Ireland. I'm moving back to the States in less than a week. I can't hardly believe it, then I look around at the boxes and suitcases to pack and I'm reminded all too quickly...
Very bittersweet.
I'll be moving back to my native Arkansas for the summer. I have a job transcribing classes for deaf students (which I'm pretty excited about...free learning, a job that doesn't involve waiting tables...awesome sauce). Unfortunately until my hubs and I get some money saved up, we'll be staying with various family members. Don't get me wrong, we're VERY grateful for their generosity and hospitality...but we're the kind of people that really like having our own space, so it's a little tough. We *are* still technically newlyweds...
Was super duper duper looking forward to a photoshoot this Sunday in Dublin for a set for SG but unfortunately, the photographer had a conflict and couldn't reschedule. I've been trying to shoot my first set for nigh on a year now and things keep happening!
Beginning to think I should just figure out how to shoot the damn thing myself. Unfortunately, location is going to be a bit of a problem once we're back in Arkansas. We'll see. I'll be back in Ireland in September, so I might be able to sync schedules then.
One more exam tomorrow...!

My time in Ireland is drawing to an end...flights back to Arkansas in a MONTH. I can't believe it. It feels like I just arrived here to this magical place. I'll never forget that feeling, looking through the window of the plane, seeing all those green rolling hills, the feeling of coming home to a place I'd never been to...
Don't get me wrong. I miss Arkansas. Hardcore sometimes. I was talking to a friend from there the other day, and was telling her just how badly I needed a six pack of Corona Light, some sweet tea with lemon and a porch to play/sing tunes on. I need some muggy Arkansas summer heat, the kind that makes you feel like you're in a sauna, the kind that makes you strip down to only the most necessary clothing. I don't think my toes have been warm in months here in the cold, damp Irish weather, even in the one week of sunshine we had a little while ago.
It's a peculiar thing, isn't it? Feeling like your home is in two places at once...
I had the good fortune to travel to London-town the week before last! Got to see most of the things I didn't see when I went in December. Big Ben, Westminster Abbey (there for choral evensong on the one year anniversary of my Mom's passing...talk about a huge moment), Parliament, British Museum, lots of beer along the way...hate that I didn't make it to the British Library. Next time, perhaps...

I've been so absent lately. School is absofuckinglutely insane. I'm currently in a master's program, and it's a one year program...which means the craziness people usually get in two years? yeah, I have it all in one. What was I thinking?
I have a concert tomorrow, singing with a baroque ensemble. The week after that, my program is putting on a drama, and two of the others can't seem to learn their music. Which means...yours truly has sort of begun acting as stage manager and calling extra rehearsals and pounding the music into their heads. It's ridiculous. Shouldn't be doing this at a master's level, at all.
I'm exhausted because I'm so stressed about it all the time.
Because school is so stressful, I'm trying not to feel the least bit guilty about going to London for spring break! We're there for three days. I'm absolutely stoked! Can't wait. We were there in December but only for about 24 hours, so we really only had time to traipse around Trafalgar for a bit, and go to the national gallery. The getaway will be nice, especially since the dates we'll be there cover the one year anniversary of my mother's passing. The distraction will probably be very welcome for me.
Off to do more schoolwork...!

Upon looking at these and comparing, I think I definitely overreacted the other day. Yes, I've gained, but it's not earth-shattering. I'm still pretty happy with how I look. That being said, I'm proud of myself 'cause I've worked out every day this week!

Now I gotta figure out what ELSE Is happening on Valentine's Day. We probably won't do much on the actual day, as we have full days of classes and then work after...I was thinking of surprising him with festivities tomorrow.

Yesterday, came across pics of me from about this time last year and discovered, to my dismay, that I've gained more weight than I thought.
Let me be perfectly clear - I've no desire to be super skinny. But I do enjoy having a bit flatter of a stomach and some tone to my body. Seeing these pictures was...frustrating. When I took these pics I was ten pounds away from my goal weight. Then I began working, then grad school and living and traveling abroad...even though I eat very healthily, the occasional splurges and such add up.
So...it's time for Operation: Get Sexier 2012. 'cause I'm already sexy, but with a better diet and some exercise, even if I don't lose an inch, I'll feel better about me

I will never understand why a professor cannot be more organized.
My course director has a nasty habit of sending out our weekly timetable late at night, right before our week starts. I had planned for my voice lesson today to be at 2pm, as per our last discussion. In the midst of my super bowl party that I hosted - I get an email - at 11PM! - saying that it's been switched to 10:15AM.
Less than 24 hours notice. Less than TWELVE hours' notice. After I'd already invited people over and planned on staying up late.
I pretended not to get the email 'til this morning. Because if he's going to be like that, I'm not going to rearrange my life and chase people out of my house so I can go to bed early. I know, it's bad on my part to be unprofessional just because he is, but I bent over backwards last semester, and I feel like that's set a precedent for this one. My classmates and I have had NUMEROUS discussions with him, asking him not to change schedules last minute, but obviously nothing is helping. I hate the fact that I feel like I have to be glued to my email. I'd rather be glued to suicidegirls. :-p
In other news that I can't proclaim anywhere else, decided to surprise my hubs for Valentine's Day with...our first sex toys. It's a bit strange, as physical as we are...that I've never, ever owned a vibrator or anything like that. So, my first vibe at 25...maybe the stuff will help me deal with my school stress :-p
I ordered some lingerie and some handcuffs too. Let's hope those get here in time. ^_^ Even if they don't, I imagine we'll have some fun all the same.

It's not because there hasn't been plenty to blog about. Maybe just because there's been too much to blog about.
In August, I moved to Ireland for graduate school. It all happened pretty quickly. Applied at the end of June and by the end of August, knew I - we - were going, as hubs got accepted as well. We left our jobs, packed up our home, and left. Pretty crazy.
We love it here. It's beyond beautiful. We've had a lot of opportunities over here as well...and I'm appearing in concert in March. At the same time, we miss Arkansas as well.
Haven't dated at all since we've been here, either one of us. Bit weird, really. Haven't had the time, and honestly, as far as I can tell, no one has shown interest, at least in me anyway.
Applied to model for SG and was accepted...now just have to find someone to shoot a set...hmm...
