Well, I know no one is reading this but since I went to the SG show last night in Tucson I figured I would post my opinion of it.
I got there about twenty minutes after the doors opened at club congress and was pleasantly surprised by the length of the line to get in. I had not thought it would be that big a show. As it turns out from listening to the conversations of other people in line about half of them had no idea it was a burlesque show and thought SG was some sort of band.
I am really glad I got there for the opening band, Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re, they rocked. Very good energy on stage and they looked like they were having tons of fun on stage. Definately worth going to see again just for the band if they show up in Tucson next year.
The actual SG show was a little disappointing, not because the show was bad but the venue is very flat and if you are on the short side, like me only five foot six, unless you manage to fight your way up to the stage it does not take very many taller people to completely block your view. There was a camera and a big screen on the wall that I caught some of the show in but it is not the highest quality display and the camera was not really designed for the low level of lighting present in the club. The taller people who could actually see the show were whooping and hollering and seemed to be having a great time, and what I could see on the big screen was really fun. I hope to be able to catch the burlesque show at a venue where I can actually see what is going on but until then at least I have the dvd and a membership to this site.
In short the band was great, what I saw of the show was awesome, and club congress is not a good venue for the combination of short viewer and visually based show. Bands work great because you do not have to see them to enjoy the music but if you are under five foot ten I would not recommend Club Congress for a show that you really need to see.
BTW: I am in serious lust with NIxon Suicide
