The human species, a long time ago, lost the ability to percieve reality as it really is...if this was done on purpose or accidentally, I don't know, but never-the-less it was lost. Now only a select few humans have the hope of being able to perceive reality as it really is and even this is attained through serious labor and really hard work typestuff. If you want to make a change, keep yourself in order, make that change within....letting your own light shine gives others the confidence to let theirs as well. Most people will never wake up to the true injustices that they have wrought against the other species on this planet and the true hell, not the biblical hell, but the true hell will be for them to live their own disgusting, bitter lives.

Mistreatment of animals is what happens when you have someone who does not care about animals making a business out of them. A person that sees animals just as money that is yet to be made will not treat them well. It would be like someone who cant read running a book store. Why would you work with something that you dont like, unless all you like is money. So in a short answer Greed is why humans think they can mistreat anything.
