Perhaps this should be posted in a group thread but I didn't know whether it should be in a book related group or one within the eating, drinking, and drugs category but does anyone have any thoughts on the new Anthony Bourdain book 'Medium Raw'?? I really dug his first one, 'Kitchen Confidential' and just bought the new one today. I don't want to fall into the trap of saying he sold out or that because his experiences over the last decade are those of a celebrity, not those of someone in the trenches of the service industry, his new book lacks the grit and realistic feel that made the first so relatable, but that's what I'm finding. I'm gonna keep reading and I would like to hear anyone else's thoughts on this or even a tip as to where I should properly place this as a thread. Cheers.
I just got home from a beautiful weekend camping on Mt. Hood. After a year living in the suburbs of Phoenix, I have a new greater appreciation for the beauty of the Northwest. Off to pitch and putt golf and overpriced beers while listening to the Bob Dylan live at Edgefield. Portland, I fucking love you.
what up y'all? i don't have a whole hell of a lot to say. i would like to wish everyone a very productive beginning of their week, if your week begins like mine does, in 7 hours on a monday...fuck. be well, if you can manage it.
The snow's melting..finally. It was fun for a few days, and a white Christmas was festive, but damn it was interfering with life in general. I had a nice mellow Christmas. I hope everyone else enjoyed the holidays.
So far there are already a few inches of snow on the ground and it's fantastic.
Unfortunately I have to drive to work in it, which isn't that big of a deal; I'm perfectly comfortable driving in the snow, but it's the principle of it. When the snow hits the ground, I feel like a little kid again, thusly I feel like I deserve a snow day void of responsibilities. All I really want to do is drink hot toddys and run around in the snow. Work=buzzkill. Yeah, i know...poor me.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather, whatever that may be wherever you are.
