I'm currently a grad student at Illinois Institute of Technology, working on my MS in computer science. I already have a degree in computer engineering, but after working at Motorola for a few years on low level software for satellite phones, I decided to make a change. I'm taking some of the courses I missed the first time around, and brushing up on some of the skills I haven't used in a while.
I grew up on the south side of Chicago, and moved out to Downers Grove about 9 years ago. I love the suburbs. My absolute favorite thing to do is go to clubs to dance, but I don't get out as often as I'd like, since I started school this year. I typically go to the Lodge in Lisle on Wednesdays and Energy in Melrose Park on Thursdays.
I have a chocolate lab, Megan, and a cat, Stormy. I got them a day apart a year and a half ago as puppy and kitten, and they're great together. I've always been a dog person, now I wouldn't think of getting a dog without a cat too.
I tend to be a bit on the quiet side, which you might not expect after seeing me on the dance floor. It just takes me a little longer than most to open up.
I'm pretty easy going and laid back, and get along best with people who are the same. I like people who are non-judgmental, kind, and even tempered. There's always several ways of looking at something, and people who only see things from their perspective are missing out.
I like to have fun. I don't want to go to work/school, go home, eat dinner, watch TV, go to bed, repeat. That's all right a few nights a week, but I also like to go to clubs to go dancing, travelling, golf, cooking, video games, and so on.
I like people who are honest and straight forward about what they want. I don't see myself as selfish, but I let others know what I want. If we want the same thing, great, otherwise we can compromise, take turns, flip a coin, etc...
I'm not dating right now, but I'm open to making friends...

I'm not dating right now, but I'm open to making friends with options down the line. These are some of the things I look for in a relationship:
Physically, I don't really have a type. Any time in the past when I had a type, I would meet someone I liked who didn't fit the type, so I keep more of an open mind now.
I like women who are 'sweet'. I have been attracted to women who didn't cause any spark at first, who I then saw later with a warm smile on their face, and I immediately went gaga over them.
My family is very important to me, and I spend a lot of time with them. They are going to be a big part of the rest of my life, and I have no plans to leave Chicago.
