I've been away for a couple months paying for things other than SG, it's nice to be back on. So, new stuff: I'm just a few months away from graduating with degrees in Religious Studies, Anthropology, and Sociology. Life is going pretty well right now. I'm almost done reading the entirety of the Icelandic Sagas. I also had enough money to buy a couple books...

Oh! Look At Me Now
I'm not the guy who cared about love
And I'm not the guy who cared about fortunes and such
I never cared much
Oh, look at me now!

I never knew the technique of kissing
I never knew the thrill I could get from your touch
I never knew much
Oh, look at me now!

I'm a new man better...

J-Hip-Hop kicks ass...

BATTLECRY by Forces of Nature

sharp like an edge of a samurai sword
the mental blade cut through flesh and bone
though my mind's at peace, the world out of order
missing the inner heat, life gets colder
oh yes, I have to find my path
no less, walk on earth, water, and fire
the elements compose a magnum opus
my modus...

I'm going to make a t-shirt with a picture of Pat Robertson that says "Pat Robertson: Proving Secularists Right Since 1988." I think it would sell.

Thanks! No, I hadn't thought of that...I pretty much got really frustrated, sat down, and wrote. I do that sometimes. wink It's definitely a thought, though, and one I'll keep in mind.

I hope everything is going well for you. kiss

"There is much evidence to show that for anyone who passes through the barrier of lonliness, the sense of individual isolation bursts, almost by dint of its own intensity, into the 'all-feeling' identity with the universe. One may pooh-pooh this idea as 'nature mysticism' or 'pantheism,' but it should be obvious that a feeling of this kind corresponds better with a universe of mutually interdependent...

"Let the man we are seeking be very bold, keen, and always in the front lines where enemies are to be found; in every other place humane, modest, restrained, shunning above all things ostentation and the shameless self-praise by which one always provokes hatred and disgust in those who hear him."
The Book of The Courtier by Baldesar Castiglione (circa 1508)

Let death and exile and every other thing which appears dreadful be daily before your eyes; but most of all death: and you will never think of anything mean nor will you desire anything extravagantly.
~Epictetus

The new semester starts in a couple weeks. I hate the bureaucracy of class registration...especially when it's for classes not even pertaining to my major. I hate these last...

I think a lot of people of our generation have been going through a similar experience lately, feeling the whole beatnik-Kerouac essence in their lives. Two friends of mine just moved to a commune to escape conventional life, and it seems to be working rather well for them. Lowell and I have also talked about doing the same thing next summer after we get married, but I don't know how that will work out, especially since I still have a shit-ton of school to complete. Oh well.

Just hang in there; things will get better. Or you could be like my friends and move to a commune. smile

Well, I hope you're doing well. Take care, doll. *hugs*

I got a call from someone with whom I used to go to high school. He tried convincing me to join in on what was clearly a pyramid scheme. Of course I turned the offer down. I couldn't help but feel kinda bad for him though. Calling someone you haven't spoken to since high school (which was five years ago) and asking them to get...

Somehow it's hard for me to image Fishers being the 24th best place to live. It's fine and all, but I know there is so much better. I'm sure they take a lot into account though...

Anyway, my main reason for commenting is because I've decided to cancel my account. If you want to reach me, email me at illyria.sg@gmail.com and I'll reply to you with my real email address. Hope to hear from you! smile It was fun talking to you here on SG.

I spent the day making Japanese lanterns and teaching a couple small Jeet Kun Do classes. It has thus far been a pretty great day. I also finished "Brave New World Revisited" by Aldous Huxley, very good book. Tomorrow I'm helping a friend remove the tar and gravel from part of his house's roof. We're going to replace that ugly shit with grass and three...
