So, I'm going to take it. The whole Store Manager promotion-thing.
I pretty much work all day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday right now. Generally open to close (8:30 to 8:30) on Saturday and Monday; early-afternoon to 8:30 on Friday; and noonish to 6:30 on Sunday. I have Tuesdays and Thursdays off, which I'll defdefdefinitely keep, and I currently work 3-4 hours on Wednesday.
So, as for putting together my new schedule, I think I've got it figured out. Open to close on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. That's around 45 hours right there. It sounds pretty awful, and it pretty much is - but it's only a few hours off from what I'm doing now on the weekends, and Sunday I only need to be there from 9:30-6:30.
Then I'll work around 7 or 8 hours on Wednesday. A few more hours than I have now on that day, so not too bad. And I still get my two good days off.
I NEED to make sure that I work 52 a week, otherwise I don't get paid. It's not always a solid 12 hours on open to close days; you go in at around 8:30 in the morning and leave around 8:30 at night, depending on how long it takes to close.
Eh, actually... post-shower edit after a during-shower thought. I think I'll do open to close on Wednesday instead, and then leave Saturday open. That way, on Friday night, I'll know exactly how many hours I need to work on Saturday to put me at/over 52. That seems like good sense...
I'm sort of excited, though, because I've always wanted to create really kickin' rad displays for holidays and whatnot. Halloween is the next one, so hopefully I can make a really cool Halloween display. I guess there are contests for the best displays, and the winning manager gets a cool thou'. I'm down with that.
I'm going to be in charge. And I need a new Assistant Manager so that I can fire some dead weight. I'm nervously excited about that.
I'm going to go take a long, hot, relaxing shower. And I don't need a new Assistant Manager to do so. I'm fairly excited about that.
