So I've been debating whether or not to stay on SuicideGirls. I'm really bitter how they've treated photographers, models, and other website owners. Their model contract is one of the worst in the business and only looks out for SG...requiring too many rights and exclusivity without offering the model much to compensate. They want to "own" the girls for two years but don't guarantee them steady work to make up for not being able to model elsewhere. Blah, blah, blah, Lithium Picnic/Apnea, blah, blah, yada, yada. I don't have to rant, Google this site and see what you come up with. Decide for yourself.

But there are some things I like about it. The message boards, the girls...well, some of them. Their standards have gone way down in recent years and now they're accepting anybody who shows vag'. Well, some of the newer girls rock...like my girl Akuma. (*shoutout*)

But selling their photosets to hardcore porn sites and whatnot...shame on you SG.

But I've been a member since 2003.....fuck that was long ago. My $6/mth going to fund the law suit against an amazing artist.

I don't know...should I stay? Should I cancel my subscription and be able to sleep better at night?

I know one thing for sure...I'll never shoot for them.

so i realized my blog was missing something....photos. i take them every day so why not post them. i use to only post photos that i really like. but there's thousands on my hard drive that are left offline.



hollywood is an odd place. few other places in the world can anyone dress up like a fucking superhero or movie character aside from halloween and not look like an idiot....ok, most still do.

i hate it when starbucks asks you for your name and can't even get it right. justin is a pretty common name. i know more than i can count on a single hand....yet i've never met anyone named dustin. something of legend i guess.




this is a billboard a block from my apartment. i swear people in this town have their priorities ass backwards. most go seriously in debt leasing cars they can't afford, spend way too much on clothing, and put their looks above their personalities. i guess in this town they're right.

i still enjoy being here....for now.


back to hollywood, well...west hollywood. aka "boys town". area code 90069. supposedly when the guy handing out zip codes at the time was gay and gave this part the "69" suffix. i wonder if that's true.



the guy on the right is preoccupied looking into the gay porn store and not at the cute girl walking right in front of him....if he's not out of the closet, he is now. this shit's on the internet. busted fella.



i took these last two a last night on 3rd st.




i try not to take too many photos of the homeless. first of all, i kind of feel like i'm exploiting them. and second, it's already been done a million times. but i observed how she was standing in front of the armani-exchange as people just pass right by without even giving a glance.

the guy on the right is holding a bag from the store, and i'll bet the cost of the item inside could probably feed this lady for a week. but for now she goes hungry. well, maybe not tonight. i gave her a five.




when shooting from the hip goes wrong, yet in the end...right. well, not from the hip. in this case it was from the camera sitting on the table. the girl in the background was sitting with her guy and another couple. she looked really bored. i tried to grab her expression, but missed. made the mistake of leaving the autofocus on and at f/1.8 there's not much room for error. but the shot wasn't a total waste.

Well I haven't written on here since July. And since then my life has completely changed....

I've bought an engagement ring, I've returned said engagement ring....heartbroken and alone for a while, but have recently adopted a "fuck it" attitude and am moving on with my life. Not worth being sad over something that can't be fixed. I had to do it, she's just not the same person I fell in love with. There's a million beautiful women in the town, so fuck it.

Other than all that, I have a new job working on some pretty cool films (and some not so cool), I'm moving into a new apartment in two weeks, and I'm close to being another year older.

Finally moving to Los Angeles. I leave Thursday to visit family in Texas and will arrive in LA on Monday.

I'll be offline until I get internet hooked up in my apartment. More to come then.

So I just finished up classes/projects, am graduating Saturday, and just got confirmation of my photo pass and free tickets to Warped Tour this year.

So the Winter quarter is done, grades were good. Got some sweet projects done for my demo reel. Putting the portfolio together this week to send out to some visual effects companies on the west coast and see where it takes me.

In other news, I'm back in Charleston until New Years.

So I spent a little time in Philadephia and visited NYC for a couple days. Took a bunch of photos (a few uploaded to the photos section).

In Charleston until Sept. 10, then off to Savannah for school.

Summer plans:

- stay at home (Charleston, SC)
- Family Reunion in Louisiana
- SIGGRAPH Conference in LA
- spend a few weeks in Philadelphia

I've been going to the gym lately. Also, I'm working on spending less time in the computer labs and more time outdoors. I'm also planning on getting into more alternative art forms other than digital (photography, sculpture, drawing).

My bank account is low, maybe I should make a website and threaten a cute, furry animal with its life unless I get $50,000. I hope that idea isn't already taken.

So the Social D show was killer. It's finals week so everything is about 10x crazier than usual. I've already finished with most of mine early, so I'm happy.

Can't wait for spring break so I can go home and get some of mom's cooking.
