DAILY HOLDEN-O-METER: Holden. . .just moved out of his parents' home. . .and is elated. biggrin He is living in a brand new home in a lush development near Ann Arbor. He lives in his sister and brother-in-law's home, both of whom are hardly ever there, because his sister works overseas and his brother-in-law is a head flight attendant.

Holden now has DSL and is...

DAILY HOLDEN-O-METER: Holden. . .needs to get more sleep. He switched medications to try to sleep less. . .and he succeeded in getting only six hours of sleep the past two nights. Holden operates best on ten hours of sleep, but if he takes 15mg of Mirtazapine, he'll sleep 12-16 hrs. a day, which certainly won't work for college. He'll try to halve the...

I graduated from EMU in 1990. I was a Comm Tech major and Dave Gore was the advisor. I've heard Gore is gone, which would be a good thing because he was clueless. My dad knew the guy who was the department head for the polymers and coatings program, and even went behind my back to arrange scholarship money and that kind of thing in that program. I decided that selling paint wasn't the career I wanted and went into Comm Tech.

I did high school in Plymouth and graduated in 1980. I blew off college and worked in record stores instead, eventually moving to Ann Arbor. When I was in college I worked at Kroger, and then as a student aid at the EPA lab in Ann Arbor.

I did my first three years at WCC, and then my last two at EMU. To have a math minor I needed to take linear Algebra, which looks easy and even kind of fun, but I had too much on my plate to devote the necessary time to that class.

Anyway ... my advice is to take a couple of tech writing classes and desktop publishing classes. If you can write bi-lingual documentation, you'll make a lot of money. The first couple of years you won't make squat -- but once you have something real on your resume you'll start making a lot more money.

You bastard! I wish I got more than 4 hours of sleep each night... surreal Maybe I should get meds. I'm turing into a cross between the guy in fightclub and office space...sorta.

DAILY HOLDEN-O-METER:

Holden has been a busy boy lately:

1) I am now insured on my '95 Honda Accord LX and just drove for the first time in about a year. Luckly, points are slowly falling off my record. State Farm had dropped me earlier because I had two at-fault accidents and one speeding ticket, but luckly they agreed to re-insure me.

2) I...

Funny that you say that, because I went back to school for Criminal Justice in 2000. I wanted to become a P.I., but the thought of being a police officer first is not appealing to me.

Yes, she is a big troublemaker. For such a tiny thing, she gets into the strangest situations! miao!!

Dear Friends,

I apologize for being away for so long, although I have a good, albeit embarrassing reason for my absence. If you e-mail me about it, I might be willing to share it with you privately.

Regards,

Holden_Caulfield

P.S. My only question now is, how do I catch up on all of the Suicide Girls whom I have missed during the past month? smile

A Worn Path
by Eudora Welty
from The Collected Works of Eudora Welty

It was Decembera bright frozen day in the early morning. Far out in the country there was an old Negro woman with her head tied red rag, coming along a path through the pinewoods. Her name was Phoenix Jackson. She was very old and small and she walked slowly in the dark...

Because a fire was in my head,

And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the...
