i am at the end of a 5 week vacation in america and i have to say it's been kick arse. i travelled with my sister and brother in law for 3 weeks and when we flew in to san fran we drove straight to vegas. vegas was awesome and i could have easily spent 2 weeks there. it was never a dull moment from seeing BITE the sexy female vampire show which came with a fit soundtrack to winning some cash at bellagio and drinking pints of kronenbourg and getting them for free cos the bartender couldn't add up. and i love a city where you can drink in the streets cos it just makes life a whole lot easier. some of those casinos where fucking cool, especially new york new york and paris. themes were great.
spent some time in hollywood after that and did the usual tourist things. went to see a jimmy kimmel show and saw the clippers take on the nuggets. carmelo got nailed with 2 T's and got ejected so that was cool. did the universal tour which was so much better than i ever thought it would be. i so expected to be bored but it was quite the opposite.
i drove along the coast line from san simeon to carmel and monterey and driving on the other side of the car and road was sketchy. it was high and foggy and fucking windy too but it was an awesome drive and i would have been pissed if i couldn't do it. we stayed there for a couple of days.
san fran was the final destination in the first 3 weeks and that is one cool city. we did alcatraz but i expected more. it was still good but i would have liked to go downstairs below the cell blocks and check that out. brother in law is a kings fan so we drove to sacramento to see them play the t-wolves.
i am a mavericks fan so there was no way i was coming to america without seeing the mavs play so i hit texas for 2 weeks. no games in dallas for the first few days so i went to san antonio to see them play the suns which went to overtime and also the knicks. tony parker is a genius. i was amazed at how easily he got in the paint...

but when i got to dallas that was when the basketball fun began. dirk hit double doubles in the 3 games against chicago, memphis and washington and even erik dampier decided to finally earn his paycheck. i was worried after they started at 0-4 but they are now 7-4 so go mavs. i went to a stars game which they lost to new york but i've never been to the hockey before and sat 3 rows back from the ice. now that is a fast paced game. i was drinking at dicks last resort the day of the who concert and some radio station was broadcasting from there and i scored a free ticket to the show and it was a floor ticket at that.
being a huge nba fan i was stoked not to see a losing game in all 7 i went to.
i've had a great time and could see myself coming back for sure and now i have that dog shit 15 hour flight back to sydney tomorrow night.
