I re-activated my SG account after about three and a half years. Things sure have changed around here. I just spent an hour reading all my old blog posts (did they even call them "blogs" back then) from 2004/5. My life is so very different now. I'm living in a new town in a new state with a new job and a new cat. My job is awesome but I need to be a little better about the anonymity now. I'm still a librarian and I still read like a fiend.

The weirdest thing was re-reading all the comments and exchanged with Electra_Descends and Miss_Lady, both of whom are long gone from the site. I wish I could re-connect with them, even just to catch up and then disappear again. I had forgotten how frequently we corresponded there for a while, and we traded sexy pix.

Since that time I dove head first into some serious BDSM. I finally acted on a lot of things I had fantasized about for years -- rope bondage, taking a strap-on up the ass, piercing, the works. There is very little I didn't get to try before the NYPD busted the dungeon I was going to almost a year ago.

It all seems so far away now that I have left NY.

On the one hand I had a really good dinner last night with a friend from the English department who took me out to thank me for talking to her classes and told me what a great job I'm doing.

On the other hand, my 10:30 appointment blew me off and my evil bossman just dropped some shit on my desk that HE sat on for a month, so now it's urgent and suddenly MY problem.

On the third hand, tonight is gaming night at my friend Katie's house. We're playing a new board game with a pirate theme and she's making pina coladas.

Let's try to focus on the first thing and the last thing and not worry too much about the middle thing.

I just finished the biggest, potentially problematic task of the new school year: interviewing and hiring new worker bees. The Baby Jesus must be happy with me these days, because he sent a great group of earnest job seekers my way this time. Thanks buddy:



And even better---my best friend is back in the USA for a couple weeks so tonight after work I'm hopping on a bus to go visit him. What could be finer than a weekend in the glorious Hudson River valley with my best friend just as the leaves start to turn?

How about that same weekend with a fresh baggie of excellent weed?

Oh, but I'm a happy librarian today.

On vacation. I need to come up with a single picture that captures my vacation vibe, but so far it's just me and a stack of books and lots of music.

I just finished a big book about the Rolling Stones--a band I've always kind of liked but never studied in any systematic way. I spent the last week reading their history and downloading and absorbing each album as I read about it.

SOME GIRLS is in heavy rotation these days, maybe because it's such a New York summertime record.

Now I'm sitting on my balcony, cursing the workmen who are drillinng and sawing away on the facade repairs. They knock off for the day pretty soon, so I'll be able to read my William T. Vollman in peace.

Maybe another coffee is in order...
