September is starting off with a bang. For the early birds among us we will be playing again on Fox 7 news in the morning on September 4th at 7:30AM. Just turn on your TV to hear a song and all about our upcoming events. On Saturday, the 6th, we have a gig at Headhunters on the patio outside. The show is 21 & up, but the cover is only $5, AND it's Joe's birthday, so come out and give our drummer some birthday greetings! Yeah it's actually his birthday, not just a party. Once again we're going to be promoting our upcoming big event...

Finally, the event you have all been waiting for is about to arrive. On Monday, September 8th, at 6:30 PM Phoenix Saga is going to release the DIRECTOR'S CUT version of our album Phoenix Saga II: The Wrath of Sean. And that's not the half of it. Not even a tiny sliver of all the awesomeness that you'll be in for. We've managed to book the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE on South Lamar for a special screening of Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan in conjunction with our album release, so you'll get to enjoy a movie, dinner, and witty banter from the band you've all come to know and love, and what's more we have a special offer for our friends! http://www.originalalamo.com/Show.aspx?id=5656 There is the link for those who need to copy and paste. There will be themed gifts, raffles, prizes, chocolate velociraptors, Phoenix Saga limited edition merch, and Orion Slave Girls. That's how much we love you, so come show us how much you love us and let's buy out the theater and rock out! Dudes, don't be slow, we've only got a limited number of our special seats! We can wine and dine you but only our most dedicated fans will be showered with gifts.Live long and prosper!

To boldly go, where no man has gone before!

Alright, we've got a promise from Jonathan that he'll have our CD mixed and mastered by the end of June! So therefore we've got (another) CD release scheduled for July 5th. We have cool friends who book us on fancy dates. Like Saturday night on July 4th weekend. We'll be rockin out at the Red Eyed Fly. So with our impending release of Phoenix Saga II: The Wrath of Sean, we have also applied for a tiny business loan to jump start things as well as fund a special event that I'll get to in just a moment.

First I'd like to say that after an acoustic gig this weekend, we'll be opening for FASTBALL on June 27th at The White Rabbit in San Antonio. Fuckin Fastball, dude. I'm stoked. Sure I work at the same place as the drummer, but we've never played a gig together. Not until now. After that come many days and nights of hard work preparing for our ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE event. September 8th 2007 Phoenix Saga, sponsored by the Austin Indie Alliance, shall host a listening party of Phoenix Saga II: The Wrath of Sean as a warm introduction to the feature film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan!

Indeed your eyes do not deceive you. You actually read that. Our event shall be one to remember complete with Orion slave girls to seat everyone, and special treatment, gifts and prizes for those who purchase a ticket at the "Friends of Phoenix Saga" price, including but not limited to Wrath of Sean CD release posters, Autographed pictures of Phoenix Saga holding an autographed photo of Bruce Willis, Phoenix Saga limited edition t-shirts, and of course, our music to listen to. All in prelude to a movie we all know and love. Naturally this is all pending on the acceptance of our loan. Otherwise we should have to fund-raise the old fashioned way. Bikini car wash. Or bake sale. Whichever seems most profitable.

As far as a new car goes, I think my mom plans to give us her old car (2001 GTI worth about $9000) and buy herself a VW Rabbit. I HOPE HOPE HOPE she gets a white rabbit. so she can get a license plate that says "IM LATE" And if you don't get that reference you need to just go away now. and neverfail at anythign else so hard ever again. anyway. it's bed time. nighty

Hold me closer, Tony Danza

Why did Sting have to go and grow a skanky light jazz inducing man-gina of FAIL? He used to be so cool. Even the John Dowland stuff I kind of liked, but he's gone the path of the farty musical diarrhea bass lines and annoying squiggley saxes. it's rather depressing. What happened to the guy who wrote Message In A Bottle? Anyway. Poop on you, Sting.

I've been going to Karaoke again a lot. There was a few months there where we didn't go at all, but I started going again with Cait, Jacob, Karl, Melissa, and anyone else we can drag along. We go on Saturdays to the Canary Roost. Of course this Saturday I may be late since I landed us a gig at an engagement party. We're going to do about half covers and half originals. We settled on $100/ hour, which is pretty cheap honestly. We could have easily asked for $500 or more. But we're gonna play Summer Romance by Incubus, It Won't Be Long by the Beatles, Daft Punk Is Playin at My House by LCD Sound System, Everlong by Foo Fighters, What I Got by Sublime, and Iron Man by Black Sabbath. plus maybe a few others. Sounds fun though. I'm looking forward to it.

On June 7th we're going to have a little album release party for our new CD with the help of The Nematoads. They're an awesome surf rock band. Ted from the Nematoads is going to do a cover of the Knights of Cydonia with us because his tremolo kicks ass. It'll be at a pizza parlor on North Loop. This is only going to be a limited release, since we ain't got much money, but we're planning on doing a "directors cut" version of our album with special features like audio commentary and "deleted scenes" of extra songs, and perhaps some music videos, and we're going to try for (I think) September 7th, the original air date of the original Star Trek series. All sorts of awesome stuff. Which reminds me! My cousin is working on a music video for Covenant. woot. anyway. I'm gonna go do other stuff.

Lots of weird things have been happening lately. These bored cops over on Mellow Meadow drive have stopped us TWICE for having a faulty light over our lisence plate. Of course the second time happened to be late at night when we were driving the 2 blocks to Taco Bell. I really don't like Williamson County Sheriffs. They try to scare the shit out of you and then let you off with a warning to seem like they're being nice. Anyway I didn't have my lisence on me because I didn't feel the need to find my wallet if I was going to a place barely a minute away. Of course it figures that I get pulled over the one time I don't have ID with me. At least they had me of file from the last time they pulled me over for the same stupid thing. But the guy at the Taco Bell saw the whole thing go down and so he gave us our drinks for free. I got pulled over for the second time for the same thing, no driver's lisence, got let of with another warning, and got free drinks out of it. how the hell lucky is that? I seriously live a charmed life.

And just Monday, Cait and I got up for work, pulled out of the apartment complex, and just past the stop sign at the high school, we see this red Honda Civic pulling over to the side of the road. Well I figured that he was parking to go to school because the street is always lined on both sides with cars, so I was about to go around him when the dude pulls an illegal U-turn right the hell in front of me. Needless to say, even going 25 MPH I still smacked into him. I pulled off the road because I could feel the front passenger side tire go flat and I got ready to give this guy all hell for being such a dumbass when the guy pulls up next to me and McLovin gets out of the car.

Naturally all my ranting was going to go to waste on the most shocked and nervous looking kid I've ever seen in my life, with me in my Lucha Libre mask red shirt and ass kicking workboots, and my tattooed, purple haired girlfriend built like Rosie the Riveter. I kinda felt sorry for the guy. And yes he looked just like McLovin. Maybe a little cuter, though. I didn't want him to piss his pants so all I could say was "What were you thinking man? You know, there's a reason it's called an illegal U-turn." Anyway, long story short, I called and woke up my mom (who was groggy after staying up until 2AM playing Lord of the Rings Online and killing albino wargs in Angmar for their pelts) and she came and picked me up and brought me back to her house to get the truck, and when I got back, Cait and I had a lovely picnic of Taco Bell and listened to the birds getting it on, enjoying our little break from work while we waited for the tow truck.

Now, the tow truck driver was a pirate. I think. He was wearing a black eye patch and he had a gruff voice. He was indeed a cyclops. He was a pretty cool guy too. Just as Cait was thinking "my poor baby!" He says "awww poor baby!" as he checked out the damage on the car. We followed him in the truck down to the body shop, where the guy was kinda unfriendly, but after we filled out all our car info for him we went back outside to get the tow truck estimate from the pirate. It was $75, but McLovin's parents had full coverage insurance. Since McLovin was at fault all that would pay for our damages, and our butts are covered. Likely they're going to declare the car totaled, but we can use the money they pay us as a down payment on a new car, and just get a new tire and a new headlight and keep the Cutlass Supreme. That way we'd have 2 cars just in case.

PLUS this wreck gives us an excuse to fix all the other problems that the car had like the blinky digital dashboard readout and the broken seatbelt on the passenger's side. Possibly even the license plate light that got us pulled over before. So I get into a wreck, meet McLovin, have a picnic, skip half a day of work, enjoy a beautiful sunny morning with Cait, meet a pirate tow truck driver, and we get the car paid for by a rich momma's insurance. Fucking brilliant. I must be getting some Karmic payback. Well, I'm gonna go pick Cait up form work now. Later!

no I ain't dead. I know I ought to update more but I never have time, considering all I want to do when I get home is play games. dude! Gaia has pinball now. I'm so addicted. To the point that I get irritated when Cait distracts me, and I had a dream about this the other night, Cait was trying to show me something and I turned to growl at her. That woke me up because I had actually turned towards her and said "BRAAAWWLRLLLLRRRR!" I didn't just dream it. Anyway we've started planning the wedding. We're thinking we'd likea Dia de los Muertos theme. On April 1st. For our wedding. And we'll have 2 little skeletons dressed up as a bride and groom as cake toppers. Apparently those are supposed to represent people who died young, but honestly we really like the style. Those or plastic figures of Joker and Harley Quinn because we're a lot like them.

Since the 1st is on a Wednesday, we're thinking of getting our certificate on the 1st, and having the reception and the "re-enactment" of the wedding on Saturday. I'd like Joey to play our music for us, and I'd like Joe, Robin, Luke, and Leslie as my groomsmen. They're really my closest friends. I think our wedding colors are going to be lavendar, green, black , and white. It should be pretty easy to find some paper lanterns to go with that color scheme. Cait has always wanted to wear purple converse and dye her hair to match them for the wedding, so I'm going to roll with that and see what I can come up with. Obviously we're still working ou thte details, but the biggest decision for me is going to be where we want to go for our honeymoon. Cait has never seen the ocean, and I'd like to go somewhere on the water. I was thinking Hawaii because I had so much fun there, but she was suggesting Okinawa. that would be cool but I'd worry about the cost of that. Then again, I've always wanted to go to Japan. Miyagi is not a name from Okinawa by the way. It's not even Japanese it's made up. Karate Kid has LIED to you.

Recording goes well on Phoenix Saga II: The Wrath of Sean. tonight we practice, and tomorrow we record another late night session. Mostly gonna be vocals and additional things to spice it up. I already had Dustin in to record his musical saw part. That right we rock out the musical saw. It's spooky and awesome. I'll use his stage name, Turnstyle, on the album. the saw part is on Liar. That song is going to be insane. Oh! and our artwork is nearing completion! Jennifer Flemming is again doing our artwork, and she's making a homage to the Wrath of Kahn cover art, but with our faces, and a flying hamburger shooting down a flaming pig in space. I'm so excited. We're gunning for June 4th (the original release date of the Wrath of Kahn) for our album to come out.

Also, psychiatrists form Austin OCD came in to the shop today. they were buying moulding hooks. They thought that having hangers putting holes in the walls would disturb the OCD people so they were going to paint a rail the same color as the wall and hang it from invisible string from the ceiling so as to not disturb the crazy people. I love Austin.

I had a pretty awesome birthday party. It was Friday after a pretty long day, and we had to do some last minute shopping. Naturally as we went to the store there were a million whiny children in the way and a million old farts with no clue how to work the self checkout registers. Naturally Cait was in a pretty bad mood from this and I was worried she was going to be pissy all during the party. I started making my asian cole slaw which was veeery tasty, and I made crab rangoon which was amazingly tasty. It was my very first time though so I had the oil a little too hot at first and I burned the first few, but after I turned the heat down it went much more smoothly. Note to those cooking on an electric stove without a thermometer, put the burner at about 4 or 4 and a half. that's about 350 to 375 degrees. Also never EVER put hot oil anywhere. wait for it to cool. I'm an impatient retard and now I have the polka dots of boiling oil burns to prove it. that was fun though. And I made some TASTY crab puffs.

So Jennifer was the first to arrive. She came bearing housewarming cookies and they were delicious. We also had some samurai trail mix, yogurt covered pretzels, chips and salsa, and those Japanese shrimp flavored chips. So she got there and I gave her the t-shirt I had waiting for her forever, and we sat down and watched the break dance instructional video my mom bought for me for my birthday. There could not have been a funnier thing to watch at a birthday party. Oh and my cake was the red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. Technically she was the only one who arrived when she was supposed to. Everyone else was late. Unfortunately she had to leave early (before anyone else got there) because she had an early day of work in the morning.

Then Pudding got there. His name is Jake (short for Jacob), and we call him Pudding because his handle on Suicide Girls is AxisOfPudding. Like axis of evil but different. I explained it thusly: "The axis of pudding is adjacent to the axis of evil, and where they intersect is... large pearl tapioca pudding. The most evil of all puddings." This was actually the first time I hung out with him when it wasn't part of an SG meet-up. So he didn't know any of my other friends really. But he got along just fine. About 10 is when everyone else showed up. I also ordered pizza which showed up then as well. So Luke and Christina, Joey and Robin, and Joe all showed up and we had a merry old time. We watched Death Proof since we still had it rented, and we mostly ignored the talky parts and watched it when awesome crashes and car chases started. We had more important things to say anyway. Joey made his flaming Dr. Peppers which got everyone hammered pretty well, and we had beers and plum wine to wash it all down. There was plenty of food, and after Death Proof we went back and watched the break dance video again for the people who missed it. only we put it on double speed, so he was speaking in gibberish and half words and doing insanely fast break dancing. it was HILARIOUS.

We had some good conversations, I scanned a few pictured for Robin and gave his sketch book back to him that I 've had for over 6 months, I got Our Lady Peace: Happiness Is Not A Fish You Can Eat from Joey, Robin's getting me David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars for free in the mail from BMG, Joe got me a new set of dice because we're nerds like that, Pudding brought me a burrito from Taco Bell, and Luke and Christina brought beers and soda. or "pop" as the silly northerner says. biggrin I know she's reading this. I love you honey! And we had a grand old time. Saturday I had to get up early and take my mom to the airport so she can go see my sister and go to San Fransisco, THEN I had to help move my grandmother into a new room at her nursing home, and that went until about 2 (for me). I picked up a blender, a serving bowl, several vintage ties, a pitcher, and some tall glasses. We only had mugs up until now. Our blender is awesome. it's 50's avant garde chrome. Old people have the coolest shit. Ever. Then after I got home, I took a quick nap until my cousins Michael and Heya showed up with my christmas/ birthday present, and an invitation to their wedding. It's in April I think. They got me a water vortex with color changing LED lights. It's like a modern version of the lava lamp that doesn't get all hard and crusty with age. and a dvd of people who really ought not to be alive right now.

Anyway we had a little nice chat and sent them on their way. Then we had about 2 hours of very intense sex, every which-a-way and it made for a very nice birthday present. She lost count after 7. She doesn't have the Princess Leia gold bikini yet but she's working towards it. Actually that gives me an idea for HER birthday...
