I officially resigned today from my cushy job at a "major Finnish cell phone manufacturer" to join a startup that collects and analyzes data from cell phones. I feel like I'm being insane, but I hope it's the right thing and I'm kind of excited. My new Company is #9 on WSJ list of top startups and I think they have a really smart business. I guess only time will tell if my gazillion stock options will ever be worth something.
There's a lot of people at Nokia I will miss, and I'm going to a new environment where I'll know no one. But at the end of the day job satisfaction takes more than an espresso machine and bean bag chairs. I'm excited about working for a company that has a product people are willing to pay for, that can help wireless carriers be more efficient and improve service.
