My first day away from the hell I've put up with for three and a half years... So relaxing...

They came back and offered me less than my boss said he was trying to get me, but it was still more than the other place. I called them up and told them I had received a better offer to stick around and they matched it. My last day with those assclowns is November 30.

The Director and Vice President of my department are trying like hell to get me to stay. They're supposed to be meeting with the President and COO Monday morning about giving me 50% more to stick around.

I've heard that you shouldn't take a counter-offer to stick around but that's a hell of a lot of money. I know a lot of the stupid bullshit that I have to deal with where I'm at now won't change, but if they're paying me as much as they're working on, I can't imagine them having me work on all the insignificant shit they could get a trained monkey to do.

My boss is the Director and we've gotten to be pretty good friends outside of work so I don't think he'd bullshit me too much. I don't trust anybody completely though and my paranoia may be getting the best of me. He told me he's been trying to prep me to be his replacement so he can move up to VP and the current VP can move up to CIO. Of course, I don't know if he's blowing smoke up my ass or not, but I'm 26 and that would be pretty fucking sweet to be a Director at my age. I'm not certain, but I think that would be another 50% over what he's trying to get approved for me now and a hell of a bonus.

My friend at the other company is telling me to tell them to fuck off and come work with him, naturally, but I still don't know what to do. I've got to make my decision on Monday though...

I got a call this evening and they extended an offer to me. They didn't offer as much money as I was expecting, but it is still better than what I'm making now. I left my resignation letter on my supervisor's desk tonight. It will be interesting to see if they try and offer me more money to stick around though I can't see them giving me anywhere what I'll want to stay.

I had another interview with their one of their executives this evening. I'm couldn't get a good reading on what he thought of me, so I'm at a loss on whether or not I'll get the job. I guess all I can do now is wait...

I had my interview today and I thought it went pretty well. Even during the technical portion of the interview, they didn't ask me very many technical questions, which I thought was pretty odd.

I found out from the guy I know that one of the department managers knocked points off of me because my "shirt didn't appear to be ironed" which it was. If that's their biggest complaint about me I'm good with that - especially since the place is business casual and I'll only need to wear polo shirts if I get hired. I can't stand button-downs and ties; I feel like I'm choking in them.

Hopefully I'll hear something back from them later this week or early next. Wish me luck...

I've got an interview lined up Tuesday morning. When the guy called me to schedule it, he told me it would take about 3 hours and would consist of interviews with at least three different groups of people. That's some pretty crazy shit...

On a positive note, a buddy of mine does the same thing I would be doing there and he's done some name dropping off and on for several months so his boss seems pretty interested. I hope like hell I get it so I can tell these assclowns to fuck off.
