Go ahead and start the youtube video below now while you read. It is the music only and therefore, you won't feel slighted in missing something visually stimulating. Who knows, you might find a new band that you really like.

For those of you that have known me for more than a year, it is that time again. For those of you that haven't welcome to my little self induced hell on earth. This certain hell begins everyyear with the mental recitation of a poem so here you go:

A Drunken Man's Praise Of Sobriety

A couple years ago, I realized I needed to cut way back on my alcohol consumption or I was going to become an alcoholic. So, I quit drinking for a few months completely. It wasn't easy at first, but it got easier as I went along. Now, I'm back to being able to drink casually and not over do it. But every now and then I feel that urge to get plastered sneaking up on me again. So, I'm thinking I might adopt your Irish Lent thing next year. Not a bad idea at all! And I'm half Irish!

thanks!

House drama sucks. I feel like I am running a day care. Everyone is worried about their stuff and what I need is never an issue.

Nothing a little of this can't help.

Andrew Bird.

Grizzly Bear

And of course

Tom Waits.

Suddenly, a glass (not a shot) of whiskey and a cigar sound really nice.

Taking a friend out for his bday tonight. I...

Depends on my mood, really. Generally, the music I seek out to comfort me immediately relates to what's the source of anxiety... but, for some reason, if I'm just on the verge of freaking out this song calms me every time.

ELO. I bonded with "Tightrope" when I had a bad trip on acid and someone played it to lift me up. Even now 20 years later it has the same effect.

I love the Tom Waits song you posted..."You'll never be free of me...You'll make a tree from me..."

Details on what we call Godfather Day.

Years ago, Steve (a best friend of mine) and I decided to watch the whole Godfather Trilogy on the day after Christmas. That has become a tradition and has grown into the awful beast known as Godfather Day. It starts at 7:30 am when he...

I know you guys must be sick of hearing this gooshy crap but when I read moonbeam's Winnie the Pooh blog it made me feel all warm and wanted and stuff. I might even go get my niece the book for Christmas.

Today is moonbeam's birthday. It sucks to have a birthday so close to the holidays so I am trying to organize a "holidayless"...

Sadly, I can't get ASP in NE. When I was in Alaska my father and one of his brothers begged me to bring some back. So I did, I brought three. One for all of us. I haven't been able to get ahold of it....for a decent price....since I came back to the midwest. I'm using the empty bottle I saved in the new set. I can't have a beer set without it! =]
kas:
thanks! biggrin awesome tree lol!

Ok, update time.

Thanksgiving was nice. If you look beyond the fact that my brother's family is a little weird.
Dinner and drinking with the family followed by $6.50 for a shot of powers and a pint of Schrimshaw at the local pub with moonbeam and friends. Mostly a good night.

Today was a whole lot of nothing. Kinda nice. Deadliest Catch marathon and poking...

Ok, got a free moment and figured it was time to sit down and have a chat.

Newness in my life? I'v decided I need to reorganize and reassess the current situation concerning finances, recreational drinking and everyday life. I've given a new friend my ten first jobs to look after and hope he'll be adamant about enforcing them. They mostly consist of the house,...
