Dreams of Paris or Bucarest. Budapest. Constinople. To be articulate, aristocratic, and well mannered. Amongst people with sensibilities and respectable stature. Horribly depraved and filthy still -- but where appearances and nuance are still important.

I think I might like that for a while.

It sure beats the self-involved snivelling of my current generation.

I saw an old man wearing the same hat as I on the subway earlier this week. I almost laughed at myself. Wanted so much to grow up that I missed my childhood; wanted it back -- and now can't wait to be even older again.

I don't know how I'll feel when I can no longer get any older. I think that may be more disappointing than death itself.
