Became a new home owner this past week!
Doing a little jig right now! I've been saving for this day since my early 20's!
The Toronto market is insanely expensive, so all I could afford was a small
condo in the Junction area, I think about how I've seen Toronto change since
I was a kid, my dad purchased his first home in his 30's in Toronto's Little Italy
it was a turn of the century 3 story Victorian semi-detached. He was the sole
bread winner. My mom stayed at home to take care of me and my 2 younger
brothers. My dad had just got his papers to work as a electrician (it was the late 70's).
That would never happen today as the same house would be priced well over
$500,000.00. It's just crazy to think that it has taken me almost 20 years to save
for a sizable down payment on a 650 sq ft condo, so I won't be house poor and
actually have a life. I will never be able to afford that same house I grew up in
but I can see it from my condo window when I get nostalgic.
I'm still happy that I did it!
