where was i?

oh yeah, funeral & demos – both turned out well, in very different ways.

the funeral – it was, all things considered, a lovely experience. a beautiful family paid eloquent tribute to their mother, and many friends celebrated her life all day long. just a shame she couldn’t be there.

a few of us ended up reliving our teens drinking cans on the beach in the dark, and i managed to put a rip in me suit .

the demos – sound great! the lads have done a spectacular job. i didn’t play the best i can, but i blame the ludicrous 8am start. i’m essentially a nocturnal creature – did you ever hear a badger nail a mccartney bass-line before noon? no? there’s a reason for that...

they’re only covers, but if any of our UK friends are interested, look up The Recollection on facebook - here’s a link, anyway:

what else? we’ve done a couple of nice, easy weddings – we’ve taken loads of bookings for next year – i put me suit in to get mended, and bought a new one from the same seller (i love vintage tweed suits - eventually, i hope to have enough to never have to wear anything else) – i’m planning what to buy people for chrizzle - there are the usual festivities on the horizon – that’s about it.

thanks to everyone who’s said hello etc xx

here’s some pictures:

i’ve been on here a week now, so i figured i’d have a go at a blog.

INRAT? i don't blame you.

thanks to all who’ve added me & made me feel welcome – much appreciated! and apologies to those i’ve requested without messaging – i’ve been like a dog with more than one appendage, running round adding pretty girl after pretty girl... not very polite, but i’ll get round to it.

it’s an interesting place. i had no idea of the sense of community on here, and of how supportive of each other so many try to be - i really like that, and i’m keen to get involved (too keen at times). i’ve even started planning some sets featuring ME to add to the suicide boys roster, which may or may not be a good thing...

NB – i have a sense of humour that can rub people up the wrong way, and often doesn’t translate well into print. what with cultural, language & gender differences, it’s a nailed-on cert that i’ll offend someone at some stage. should this be the case, just let me know & i’ll try to avoid a repeat.

*ahem*

what am i then? i’m a unemployed fine art graduate (rare) and part-time bassist. i studied painting a long time ago, but due to long-term mental health problems, have pretty much given it up (long story). i take photographs, to amuse myself mainly, and i may post a few up here.

due to said health problems, i’ve not worked properly for a long time. i joined my brother’s covers band 6 years ago, to get me out of the house. after a lot of pissing about, we got serious of late, and are with agencies, and have played weddings most weekends this year. it’s not cool, but it pays.

anyone into professional murder music? we did their guitarist’s wedding the other month. nice fella, lovely bride, great party.

this thursday, we’re completing our new demos for the agencies (a killers, a beatles, a stone roses), and, though my parts are done, i’m on camera duty.

if anyone’s interested, add me on facey & i’ll point you in the direction of the band page & the twitter.

thursday also sees me attending the funeral of the mother of my first girlfriend, which is sad & strange. i spent a good proportion of my years 16-18 in her house, and she was a funny, bright & playful woman. the former-girlfriend got in touch as her mother had mentioned me in her last week in the hospice.

when i knew her, she was, in addition to the above, a depressed alcoholic. despite the circumstances, i was delighted to hear that she’d been sober for 7 years, and counselled others towards sobriety. strange how i could feel so pleased for her, on the day i learnt that she’d died.

anyway. so endeth the post. that was fairly painless, for me at least – how was it for you?
