10 years ago this month marked the start of a 2 month slaughter of Ethnic Tutsi and moderate Hutus in Rwanda. Over the course of April 1994 to June 1994 over 800,000 men, women and children ( Over 1/5th the population of Rwanda at the time) were brutally massacred by Burundian Hutu rebels.
Prior to the genocide, CDN UNAMIR worker d'Allaire was warned by a Hutu insider of the impending massacre. d'Allaire immediatly send word to UN headquarters and urged more troops be sent to control the situation. The UN however attributed this to exagguration of an 'ethnic conflict' centuries old in the area and therefore took no action. On the contrary, this was a naive position, and the Hutu rebels were determined and calculated in their plan to rid Rwanda of Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
Months prior, they had collected enough data, and had death lists which provided the names over every Tutsi and moderate Hutu living in Rwanda. This included ordinary civilians, as well as politicians as well as the presidents of both Rwanda and Burundi. This was no 'ethnic conflict', but a calculated plan for genocide.
In April 2004 Burundian Hutu rebels moved in swiftly and began the machette slaughter. In some areas up to 50,000 people per day were being killed. The main river areas became clogged with bodies and body parts. Dams became clogged and electricity and water supply declined. Literally tens of thousands of badly decaying and mutilated bodies floated in the hot sun for months. Waterfalls became areas to dump bodies and in the pool below, bodies piled up on jagged rocks.
Following this, the UN decided to pull out all by 150 remaining troops and let the situation solve itself, leaving those in UN refugee camps to the 'mercy' of their murderers. Finally, by June 1994 the UN admitted that the events in Rwanda were indeed genocide and sent French allied troops in to secure the country. However, if they had acted only 100 days earlier they might have prevented the slaughter of nearly one million people. Despite taking months and months of planning, once started, the Rwandan genocide was carried out with such swift force, it is unmatched in speed and verosity, to even the mass extermination of Jews by the Nazis which lasted years and years.
Hutu organizers of the genocide counted on the lack of interest in Rwanda by the international community, to allow their slaughter to be pervasive and they were right.

do you like scooter rallies? I know you've never been and we (me, baby and Jarrod) want to come to vic on victoria long weekend for one. We have to spend the night somewhere and if you love me you'd baby sit Loki for a bit. So I can get drunk with pretentious mods. And then steal their rides. And steal you one so we can dress up in animal suits like bunnies or panadas and then rob people and beat theem up because we hate them. then have loki pee on them cause thats what loki does.
when are you coming here, I am getting bored. squirting bub with water isn't as entertaining as it use to be.
