i suppose we all have writers whose work stirs, thrills, and teaches. i've a few. i call them my "best friends." and/or my "lovers". whenever i'm down i pull one of their books off my bookcase and reread. it always helps.
today i found out one of these best friends/lovers died this past friday. leslie scalapino is an amazing poet, innovative novelist, playwright, critic, who has published somewhere around 30 books. i had the good fortune of meeting her once. now she's gone.
but her words remain. i recommend her to all of you. here's her obit.
