Wow an update in under two years! I'm on fire!
Latest news is that my wife got a promotion/transfer at work. So now we live in Trail, BC where surprise surprise it's a whole lot cheaper than Vancouver. So much cheaper that we no longer have a mortage and I stay home now and take care of our 2 year old. So that's what's new. Exciting no?

Wow, it's been almost two years since I did any journal shit.
What's new? Let's see. I'm running the kitchen at a casual dining joint with owners who have a very "hands-on" attitude with all the benefits and drawbacks that brings (being polite here). It's a little draining (again being polite).
More importantly I have an awesome kid! He's a year and a half old now and he rocks. His name is Dean and he makes even the shittiest day better with just one smile and a babbled "Daddydaddydaddy". Kids rule.
That's it really.

So I successfully completed my Red Seal courses and tests and am now all powerful. Or at least I have my chef papers which is kind of the same thing. Started a new job where I'm actually involved in making new recipes and re-designing the menu. Sort of a nice change of pace from the chaos I was working with before.
So with this career advancement stuff and the child on the way I would have to say that life is okay.

Well, my wife and I just got back from the doctor and it's now official, we're having a baby. Well she's having the baby really, let's be honest. She's just over 3 months pregnant and we got to hear the heartbeat today. It's pretty fucking exciting and has me a little freaked out (in a good way). I'm pretty stoked.
Well today is one of the worst days of my life. We just discovered yesterday that one of our cats, Genghis, was born with a liver condition that flared up finally after over 10 years of perfect health. She went downhill fast with her liver crapping out in under a week. The surgery required to help her would probably kill her so we've decided rather than having her die all alone in a cage somewhere that we would bring her home for one last night and day and then have her put to sleep tonight at 7PM. It's easily the hardest decision my wife and I have ever had to make as Genghis has been one of the most important parts of our lives for the past decade. To say that we will miss her is a gross understatement.

Genghis Khat RIP.
Genghis Khat RIP.
I really have nothing to say in this blog. First I wrote how I didn't quit my job but who the fuck really cares about that? Even I don't.
I figure I should post something to my blog just so I can say I blog. So here we are. Blogging. Blog blog blog. Wow, what a rush. I feel so culturally "leet" now.
