Just a pic blog from the AZ Ren Festival 2012. We got to the show late so I was pretty far away and had to use my 70-200mm. I think I need to get the 1.4 teleconverter. Woulld have added a bit more zoom at the cost of a single stop.

I have been pricing trips and I have come to a conclusion. This town needs an enema. Wait, that isn't right... Oh yeah, I need a vacation. I think I want to sneak away and head back to NYC for a few days. Might not be the ideal vacation spot for most people, but I really liked it. I could try San Francisco since my last visit there was really short.
Not much going on, staying in my cave to avoid the heat. I do manage to sneak out once in a while in an attempt to be social. It can be interesting observing people in a public venue. Just today I actually heard a guy claim that a current safety protocol put in place at work was the result of "a damn woman being in charge". Always good to know we still have primitive folk out and about in public.

Recently new content was released for Fallout New Vegas. It seemed short, but some of the dialouge was funny as hell. I had to clip out a part that made me laugh pretty hard:
I have been playing lots of games lately. Finishing up my large queue of games purchased off of Steam. Apart from that, I have been doing my best to keep up on all the new movies coming out. I should go see Captain America this week. I know it is doing well, but I am still hoping it is good. We shall see!

This just made me laugh my ass off. I really needed a good laugh. Remember, only you can prevent grundle staining!

I finally finished reading Dune, Dune Mesiah and Children of Dune. I really like Frank Herbert's writings. I was told not to proceed in the series any further bu a trusted source so I will not continue with God Emperor. Instead I will either pick up Game of Thrones or reread the Lord of the Rings. Recently watched the three movies again and I got the itch.
I keep seeing news clips about why super hero movies are bombing. I thought there have been some good ones recently so I have no idea what they are talking about. Apart from the comic book based movies, really looking forward to the new Harry Potter movie. I would also like to catch Horrible Bosses. Charlie Day from Always Sunny in Philadelphia cracks me up.
Have a safe and fun 4th of July!

Well, the holiday weekend is upon us! I have the next four days off. I plan to stay in where it is cool and read/game. I know, that sounds super exciting. Perhaps I will venture out once the sun goes down and have myself a drink or two. I have had the urge to go to Rula Bula for a tasty Irish Beer and Whiskey.
I think I will touch up the old resume and throw it out there. I have been working at Intel for 15+ years now, but I think I would like to move to a city that has a better mass transit system. As long as I can get an IT job living in cities like NYC or San Francisco shouldn't be too tough. Just wish we had sites up in those areas. The closes would be the site in Santa Clara, but I am not sure I'd like to go back to California. Perhaps a whole new country! I also know they have IT on cruise ships that are 8+ month tours of duty. I had always considered something like. I don't really have many ties to AZ apart from a few friends that I see once in a great while.
I am mostly just kicking around a few ideas right now. I have noticed in my life that when things get to a pretty bad level, there is usually an opportunity around and I merely have to act on it. I will keep my eyes peeled, but it doesn't hurt to look around either. I have always believed when you feel like you have nothing to lose, that is the best time to take chances.
Hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend!

I hate to admit it, but I may go watch Green Lantern this weekend. I wasn't sure about Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, but it is looking pretty good so far. Marvel is being forced to push their super hero movies into an area they were scared to go. They have tried to avoid as alien or supernatural plots as they could as it seems to upset non-comic book types. Not sure why that is. I am really looking forward to Captain America. If they can't get him right, the Avengers will just fall apart. Can't have a movie without the original Avenger himself.
I caved. I bought a Nintendo 3DS. I have been a Zelda fan for quite some time so the idea of playing Orciana of Time in 3D was too much for me. It also has an integrated 3D camera which is really cool. It is still early for 3D tech, but it is looking good so far. Also, they built in induction charging which I think is a great step forward. More devices should integrate it in their design.
I have reread Dune Mesiah and now I am reading Children of Dune. I really like Frank Herbert's work.
That is all. Thanks to Reid I am really craving some oolong tea and an In N Out burger.

Went to the PHX Comicon last weekend. Saw some cool presenters like Nimoy and a couple others. Even picked up a light saber from Ultra Sabers. They are pretty cool. You can even take them apart and replace parts. Very cool stuff.
Guess I have fallen behind on my movie watching. Probably head out tonight and watch Hangover 2 and the new Pirates. Then maybe tomorrow I will check out the new X-Men movie.
Work is alright, but I am just going through the motions. Not too happy with life right now. Mostly my own fault though. I may have spent too much of my life alone and forgotten how to really connect with people. I guess I have some choices to make, continue on with the whole solitude thing and see how far I can go or take up arms against a sea of troubles.
As always, I move foward

Some movies are so bad, you have to love them. K, you don't have to love it, but I think it is damn funny. Not sure why the boomerang line at the end of the clips makes me LMAO.
Just a word of advice to anyone going to watch the movie Priest. The story felt a bit rushed in my opinion. The motorcycles, weapons and costumes were pretty badass. Also, Maggie Q is always a pleasure to watch as she kicks the butts of people 4 times her size. I have heard that it does the graphic novel justice, so maybe if I had read them the story wouldn't have mattered as much. Still, not a bad movie to watch on matinee if you can catch it.
I have been watching Sons of Anarchy. I was on the fence about watching for some time. I knew the lady that played Peggy Bundy was in it, but not much else apart from the fact it was about a motorcycle gang (which I now know is a Motorcycle "Club"). I do not ride motorcycles, but I had always pictured myself with a sport or in between a sport and a touring bike. This show has shown me that I was pretty far off on my thoughts of what cruisers were. I may have to rekindle my interest and go down to Team Arizona and get some training and eventually my motorcycle license. This is what I had in mind:
