The wonderful, wonderous @Bluenicorn tagged me on this. Thank you! How could I miss this chance to expose myself?
1) Tell us a joke.
Helvetica and Times New Roman walk into a bar.
- “Get out of here!” shouts the bartender. “We don’t serve your type.”
2) Fur babies or human babies? Tell us a little about all the children that drive you crazy or fill your arms with love. (Including any with scales, feathers, or more than 4 limbs/legs)
A. My children are all grown, but my little fur baby, a calico cat named Persia is just a sweetheart. She greets me at the door daily when I come home from work. Her unconditional love is one of the most precious things in my life!
3) You have many secret and not-so-secret admirers as a member/hopeful/photographer/SG in this community, but do you have any secret crushes that tickle your heart? [No names, this is about secret crushes!]
A. I doubt I have any secret admirers herein, but I secretly—or not so secretly admire a few, but one in particular has piqued this poet’s interest of late.
4) What is your favorite hairstyle/color that you have had so far? Worst hairstyle? [If you have any photos feel free to share.
A. I’m bald, have been for almost 10 years so, I suppose I’m partial to not having to pick a style. 😊
5) I'm standing outside your window with a radio above my head right now just like John Cusack in "Say Anything". What song would I be playing to win your heart?
A. I am a hopeless romantic, try as I might to shed that part of my personality, it keeps growing back! So, “I’ll Write a Song For You”, by Earth, Wind & Fire. The song exemplifies pure love, and if she were to sing it for me, I’d swoon and sing it back to her!
6) Favorite decade of fashion that you would love to follow if the styles were readily available at all the local shops?
A. Early 20th Century urban America—think Chicago style; those men knew how to dress in impeccable style, and the women started to come into their own, redefining what fashion could be for them.
7) One magical concert ticket landed in your hands. It grants the holder the ability to see any band (and openers) at any venue across time. Which band/tour would you choose to see? When and where did this legendary concert take place?
A. 1977, Providence, Rhode Island; Earth, Wind & Fire. Still my favorite band hands down!
8) Name one talent that you do not have and wish you did?
A. I am an artistic person, I draw, but I have never mastered human faces. I just can’t seem to get them right.
9) Shootfest question: I’m out of this one.
10) Theoretically, SG is offering up an all-expense paid SG tour in LA that includes a non-romantic "date" with your chosen photographer to interview, hang out with at the beach, and attend an exclusive shoot featuring them. Who would it be? (Members only, hopefuls can answer, too)
A. @milloux Not only is she one of my favorite models on the site, but I have watched her photographic skills bloom. She fascinates me, and it would be a joy to spin a little time with such a dynamic human being.
11) Favorite tea, coffee, beer, and/or wine?
A. I am not much a of tea drinker, and I do not really enjoy coffee, but I drink it b/c it is suppose to be good for your health and it keeps me awake and energized during long days at work. And I guiltily enjoy the occasional Latte. Until very recently I never drank alcohol. Through 15 years in the U.S. Navy I never drank a drop; during shore leave while my shipmates hit the bars, I hit the local museums or other cultural attractions. I have been drunk! Lately, however, in an effort to have more “fun”, I have taken to drink the occasional bourbon, Irish Cream, or mojito. I detest beer! And I like my wine on the fruity side.
12) Cuddles: strictly for lovers or are close friends an option?
A. I enjoy cuddling very much and strictly platonic cuddling is welcome and needed from time-to-time. Although I am very introverted, I need human contact to remain sane, and cuddling does that for me. I have come to know that intimacies can be shared with good friends if there is trust and true mutual respect between the two of you. And how hard is that to find and hold onto?
13) Most ticklish spot we should avoid when offering a massage?
A.I have no clue, someone would have to be willing to explore.
14) Reveal something nerdy. It could be current gaming PC specs, your favorite guitar/amp setup, something about your most used camera. Blow our minds with the technical specifications in regards to a talent or hobby you excel at. Favorite spay paints for graffiti or a semi-secret recipe that wins friend's hearts. Give us the nerdy low down from an expert so we can Google and understand it!
A. I work in Information Technology, and for me it started as a hobby; taking computers apart seeing what was inside, how they worked, and then putting them back together again. Until very recently I built all of my own PC’s from scratch. In my basement I have my own little network of computers set-up; it’s how I continue to learn.
15) Recently, there was a homework assignment asking about a favorite compliment given or received. Take a moment to give a compliment to someone of your choice through DM, Whatsapp, post on their page, or any other method that is not directly public through this question. [This is meant to be between friends or someone that touched you emotionally recently.]
Done!
16) Today sucked. You just want to sit at home alone with a pizza, beer (or your choice of beverage), and Netflix to de-stress. What toppings do you choose on the pizza and what movies/shows will you binge?
A. Hummm, I like my pizza piled high pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and pineapple, with a smattering of smoked gouda. As far as the programing; “Sense 8” marathon; I loved that series. It was deep, nuanced, sexy AF, and emotionally captivating.
17) What "old" song do you still love today that remains relevant to your life? [It could be as simple as Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or something more politically charged like Dead Kennedy's "Police Truck".
A. The Rose by Bette Midler; damn hopeless romantic, I hate you sometimes!
18) Recommend one book (and the author) that changed your life. [This is for any avid readers that want to expand their minds]
A. I am an avid reader, I have over 500 titles in my traditional library (yes, I have read just about all of them) and another 200 or so in my digital library. My favorite is “The Mist of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Once I started reading the book, I could not put it down. Almost literally. I have read it over and over again and every time it’s like the first time! How weird is that.
Can I choose a second book? Why yes, you can. “Five Decades: Poems 1925 – 1970”, by Pablo Neruda. I am a poet and though I have read the works of the celebrated greats, it was not until I read this book that I experienced what unabashed emotional poetry, written in free-verse, was all about. Through emulating Neruda I was finally able to let go of the structured poetry model and let my soul write poetry as freely as it wanted. It was for me so liberating! And I still write my poems in free-verse.
19) You're driving far away from home to get away on holiday, but you become lost. Google maps doesn't work. There are no phone signals. You'll probably be lucky and find your way on track soon, but who would you want riding co-pilot to maintain your sanity and cheer you up while traveling these seemingly endless roads?
A. My dear coffee buddy from work Nicolette; she is one of the sweetest people I know and has loads of personality. We would have such fun getting lost together, she would keep me sane, that is if she didn’t lose it first.
20) Let's end this with something simple. Name one thing you collect.
A. I travel, so picture of my adventures, which I swear on day I will have framed; well some of them. And books from everywhere I go, I try and pick up a book. On my recent trip to Iceland I picked up this little book of dark humor. Funny AF!
