I was feeling shitty and had an awakening, like I would imagine how it would feel to have your soul banished to hell and instantaneously replaced by an exact copy- I found myself gazing thoughtfully at everything in Barnes and Noble. Everything was labeled. I looked at the desk I was leaning on, and behind it was a bookshelf filled with a bizarre assortment, and it wasn't labeled. It had copious amounts of Dungeons and Dragons, large Star Wars books, and everything by Chuck Palahniuk.
A couple of employees came by and I explained to them my musings and wondered what the fuck that section could possibly be. 'This is all stuff that's stolen often'. I understood the D&D- it's expensive, and young teens don't have the cash. Chuck Palahniuk is all anarchic or whatever. There was another author- Haruki Murakami, and a lot of him. I'd never heard of him. Why him, I asked. The fat intelligent girl said oh he's unbelievable! OK....this place is filled with great stuff, but they aren't sharing unlabeled bitchroom with D&D and Chuck I said, minus the word bitchroom. I just made bitchroom up, and I'm not that impressed with it to be perfectly honest. Well, she said, it's very...subversive.
I want it. Just give me one I don't care. It was just too cool to pass up. It's titled Kafka On The Shore.
