Feeling very lucky today (and very sore). I took a nasty fall yesterday and suffered a head injury. The initial diagnosis was much worse, so I'm thankful the injuries aren't as bad as they could have been.
Initially I was supposed to have surgery to relieve pressure on my brain and remove a piece of my skull. Instead, the swelling around the brain came down and the concussion symptoms began to lessen. So, after some rest in the hospital and 41 stitches to the head, I'm home and resting.
I'm only allowed on the computer/watching t.v. for about an hour or two a day, so unfortunately I won't get to visit this awesome site very often this weekend. It's going to be a rough couple days, but luckily I haven't had to take any painkillers yet.
Obviously laying on the couch with no digital media has given me a chance to just relax and think. My initial thought was that I'm glad it's a three day weekend so that I can recover and hopefully be back to work on Tuesday. Now, all I'm thinking about is those who gave their lives so that I can live in a country where I am able to recover and get the treatment I needed. I'm thankful for all the troops this weekend who fought to make this country a great place to live in. There are many things that need to change, and our country is a constant work in progress, but this weekend is a time to remember those who believed in freedom so strongly that they were willing to risk their lives to help see it through.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekends everyone!
