I'm done with the non-profit work for a while. I am back in college getting another undergrad degree in computer science. Being out of school and dedicating four long years of building up a professional reputation led me to realize that I'd rather work in the tech field. Even most of my instructors are way younger. I kind of feel like that part in Billy Madison where Adam Sandler is in the classroom with all the kids.

Past week has been surreal. I finally got offered a good gig in Montana. This is good. Its late in the season and its a management position. Its in Montana. I like the northwest although Montana can get cooooold. I'm kind of tired being in the exceptionally colder states during winter. Even Virginia in 2009 with its epic snowfall was a bit much. Portland was a fun town. Not huge like Minneapolis but larger than Milwaukee, Richmond, and the other spots. I like the weirdness too although I like east coast - say it to your face/no bullshit attitude. I say be weird and keep it real.

The epic 90 hour work week is not too appealing. I've had three months off and I don't mind the hours but I feel like in my time off I didn't do everything I set out to do. Going camping, building my web site, seeing some concerts, playing guitar with other musicians, having a summer fling maybe- meh whatever thinking about that one. But whatever- I was feeling real low not knowing if I'd find another get another gig this season. I had high hopes for 2012 ever since working on my first campaign in 08'. I'm relieved that I did in fact make it happen. Although now I am realizing that I want to work in a more technical field like new media director. Field is awesome though and I am exceptional at what I do even though it may not fit my natural talents and personality. It does in a way though. New media is awesome because of its creative outlets and less demanding work schedule and permanent employment. But field is cool too.

Also of importance, my wizard is level 60 and decently equipped (not superbly by any means), my barb is level 25. I have played a lot of diablo. Its helped make me entirely nocturnal. I go to bed by 5 am at least, you know the sun is still down. I enjoy my late night job as a cook though. I like standing up and doing some strenuous activity. A desk job will make you appreciate being active and physical. Cooking is a such art and I love cooking great food for my pals and coworkers. Having done it day after day for three months I can say that I still enjoy it. I even find myself thinking about recipes and how to perfect my craft by buffing up on my cutting technique and cooking knowledge.

Although I'm almost thirty and have a sense of "I dunno know what I wanna be when I grow up", I know its because I want to do everything. There are so many fascinating career paths, its not easy to go all-in on one. I guess I'll keep going with the nonprofit stuff because I've done it for four years and there are different aspects of the field. With this economy if I'm living off of a job that I at least somewhat enjoy and is meaningful work then its all good.

Back in Bama. Things did not go well with my cute coworker that I moved back up to Wisconsin to be with and now I am out of the arctic. Things aren't so bad though.

Moved back to the arctic. I had sinus problems as soon as I got up here. This sucked because it meant that I was a sniffling sick mess by the time I got to her place. Her being the cute coworker that convinced me to move in with her. Yeah so she shot me down when I invited her to valentines day dinner. I haven't spoken to her since. I'm really bummed. I told her she was the only reason I was taking this job. I passed over a better position with much better pay for a company that I'd been trying to work with again since 2009. No idea what to do.

In Milwaukee for work. Pretty boring. I'm working with two friends that I've worked with in the past.

Whoa. Its been awhile since I've posted. Ok so I moved to Portland and stayed with my old room mate from college. I worked that fundraising gig and finally got offered the position I was sent up there to take. I was supposed to get the offer within two weeks of moving up there. I actually got the offer two months later. So I interviewed and accepted the job then found a better job in New York the next day. And so it goes.

Chillin' in Long Island. I'm in a hotel while I wait for supporter housing to go through. The job is cool. My coworkers seem solid. Man, I'm ready for November already. I guess I'm kind of home sick.

OK so now I'm in Denver. It rained all fucking day. The winds reached 70 miles an hour. I drove through a supercell in Kansas. I had to pull over. Tumble weeds hit the car like missiles and the hailed put two dings in the windshield. I then passed a tractor trailer that was on fire. The wind blew melted plastic from the truck all over my windshield. I had to get out at a gas station and try to wipe that shit off so I could regain visibility. The storm took out the power at all the gas stations for like 80 miles. I eventually was waaaay past empty and had to pull over at a gas station and wait two hours for the power to come back on. What a fucking day.

So. I moved to Nashville to work on a campaign. Two of my fav friends live up there but now I'm being deported to Portland to work as a field manager and then as a field director. I'm staying with one of my old room mates from Alabama in Portland. I got the call last night around this time. I had just finished buying groceries when my boss told me to pack up and move 2,400 miles away first thing in the morning. I had to return the groceries promptly.

Now I sit in a hotel room that I believe is outside of Kansas City. The cities blur together after 600 miles. I'm interested in how this will all pan out.
