A moment of reflection for the men and women who have served this country.....In 1918 and armistice was declared on the the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour.....WWI killed more people than any other war, until its inevitable sequel.....Say a prayer for ou children and childrens children for understanding and compassion.....be not afraid to pick up arms, but no zealously, be sure all other avenues have been exhaustedf before sending young men and women to make the sacrifice.....Bless all who do so willingly and proudly, and thank them for your freedom and honor them with respect. Peace(for all) Bill

Well, I guess Missouri has its advantages.....the weather thus far in November resembles a Buffalo summer....60's and 70's and sunny, I'll take it!
Is science the new Christianity?? Do we have to have blind faith in science, or be ostracized and punished? I do not believe in the whole mess, scientists are as out of touch with the real world as monks transcribing scriptures. Science has no inside edge or special insight just blind faith in research. I'm having a little problem with the grandpa thing....how can I be a Grandfather when I still feel like a teenager, how can I spoil a new baby, when I'm not done spoiling myself?? I still enjoy oogling women, playing with old cars, and generally acting like a child...some example!!!!

If the poor boy follows my example. he'll be thrown out of kindergarten for sexual harrassment, and be in rehab by middle schoolbiggrin

Well, its official I'm definitely an old bastard....My step-daughter had her baby last night at 6:00 a boy 7lbs 6oz, Donavan Hobert (what a monicker) On top of this, I went to the supermarket last night and without asking the cashier gave me the Senior discount....save 5 bucks!!! My question is Is it wrong to tke a discount I am not even close toqualifying for? My friend Ed says fuck em if I didn't ask and they give its on them.....I agree but feel like a thief sometimes.....
Reading Norman Mailer's the Executioner's Song, about Gary Gilmore who was executed for a double murder in Utah by firing squad, (lead-poisoning??) A great book, about 1100 pages long and I ave yet to be able to put it down....what is amazing is how fucked up this dude was, and yet he was sypathetic....a monster yet you feel sorry for him.....Peace from a reluctant Grandfather!ooo aaa

Today's rant is about ham-handed government abuse of power.....why is marijuana prohibition still the rule, when it has done nothing to stem the tide of illegally imported weed, and the artificial limitations imposed on the supply have led to homemade dangerous concoctions like meth and crack? Weed needs to be legalized, put in packs and sold at supermarkets and drug stores. Instead of a perpetual drain on our resources, it could provide revenue to treat the addicted, and would remedy a good portion of the gang, prison overpopulation and would give farmers a reliable cash crop. This is too simple though, we can't support law and order and jack-booted thugs with simple common sense. Perpetual crisis is necessary in order to perpetuate the myth that our government is justified in expanding exponentially!!!! mad

Good day, Eh! Welcome to Monday! Well our weather continues to be a mystery....33 degrees overnight Saturday, 65 and sunny, on Sunday. Went to an awesome car show at Twin Rivers State Park outside Fairland OK, about 200 street rods and muscle cars, sponsered by the Rebels Car Club. zoom imagezoom imagezoom image
Then we cruised up route 66 in my old clunker, zoom image( I can't pick on this car, I've had it for 6 years, is was stored for most of it, the day I lost my job in April, I put a new battery in, 4 used tires and finished some unfinished projects, and proceeded to load everything I could put in it, and drove to Missouri from Buffalo NY) We ended up in Vinita at a little restaurant called Claytons Cafe which has a enormous EATS sign on the front. It has been a Rte 66 landmark since 1927. We had an awesome home style brunch, me chicken and dressing, dee fried chicken dinner, with salads, rolls, mashed potatoes and vegetables(fresh green beans) plus dessert and drinks for 18.90!!!!! For some reason I didn't get a photo but check it out if your touring rte 66. We headed back toward MO and on the way I saw a billboard for Darryl Starbird's Museum. I never thought I was this close to his place, but I found it only 35 miles from home. For those who don't know the name, Darryl Starbird is a car customizer, who was one of my heroes in my misspent youth of reading old Hot Rod and Car Craft Magazines. I was always a dreamer and one of my dreams was to be a car customizer, never happened but still worship my heroes. This is a must see place for followers of 50's and 60's car craziness, his contemporaries are represented in the museum which is the Rod and Custom Hall of Fame! Von Dutch, Ed Roth , Sam and George Barris, and so many more are immortalized in photos and some of their best known work is on display. Starbird Museum
All in all a great weekend!!zoom image Peace Bill

I've been taking a personal inventory lately, I have been thinking about the plans, goals and dreams I had when I was a kid. I have not accomplished many of them, most were immature unrealistic and just plain silly in some cases. I am nearing the half century mark, and I am going to try to make an impact with the remaining time I have. I don't know what or how yet but that will be apparent with some concious effort toward change. I want to be a better man, a better neighbor, a better citizen, and will make every effort to be the man I now beleive I should be. My question for the day is, how does me spending my time here help me accomplish that? I would like to think that reading about, chatting with and absorbing info has given me some insight to the feelings of others, but am I just here for the photos???
