"There is hope, but not for us." Kafka

He was laughing when he said it, according to his friend Max Brod.

I need pain and despair to work, but how can one work in pain and despair?

"I must go on I can't go on I must go on..." Becket

Motto for s broken day.

Thanks for your comment on my story. smile I had fun writing it.

Your black and white cat looks a lot like mine. That's a great picture. I love the light and shadows, and the kitties look like they're posing. You can tell they're watching something. smile

It's more than rain that falls on our parade tonight
it's more than thunder it's more than thunder
it's more than a swindle this crooked card game
it's more than sad times it's more than sad times
none of our pockets are filled with gold
nobody's caught the boquet
there are no dead presidents we can fold
nothing is going our way
and it's more...

"The biggest defeat in very department of life is to forget, especially the things that have done you in, and to die without realizing how far people can go in the way of crumminess. "the genuis of love and and the genuis of hunger, those two twin brothers, are two of the moving forces behind all living things. All living things must set themselves in motion to feed and to reproduce. Love and hunger share the same purpose. Life must never cease; life must be sustained and must create."

I'm sick of hearing about these little hucksters bouncing about like puppets, trying to find the correct marketing scheme to lull "the public" into voting for them. A real spectacle! Liberals be damned, there's one party in this country, the party of Empire. Anyone who pretends otherwise is lying to themselves, or has already forgotten the horrors commited by the now-sainted Clinton. Micheal Moore endorsed...

I really appreciated your comment on the marriage thread.

And I totally agree with you about the 'one party' thing.

"Why kid ourselves, people have nothing to say to one another., they talk of their own troubles and nothing else. Each man for himself, the earth for us all. They try to unload their unhappiness on someone else when making love, they do their damnest, but it doesn't work, they keep it all, and then they start all over again, trying to find a place...

This is the second and final part of "everyone gets what she wants." Again, it's fiction, made up, just a story.

For a while, before they moved away, I thought maybe, just maybe, I could reach an agreement with my girl and her lover. The Other had seen me up close, had faced for the first time-- in a much more dramatic way than she...

That was incredible. Incredibly sad in context, yet still incredible. I'm glad this is fiction. Submit it to nerve, theres a good cahnce they'll put it up.

This is a short story i recently wrote called "everyone gets what she wants." enjoy.

I fell in love with a lesbian. It proved, in the end, a masterful strategy for subverting the death-pull of the long-term relationship, the inevitable gloom and loathing that prevails when two people earnestly commit to one another. And it didnt spare me the heartbreak that follows abandonment by the...

Gracias por las palabras amables. a few people have commented on the sadness of the story, which I can certainly see; but has anyone seen any humor in it? The next and final installment--now that's going to be sad. to be posted soon.
maximillian:
There are touches of humor - the impossible to ignore erection and the constant professionalism of The Other spring to mind right away. Just enough, I thought, to help temper the sadness of the story. Excellent work, I enjoyed reading it quite a bit. Once I started, I had to finish it.
