most humbling moment: i was at a military checkpoint one time during the salvadoran war going into rebel areas and the guy interrogating me was making it very clear that my continued existence on this planet was completely within his hands and since there were already several 'internationalists' killed in the previous weeks i would have to say i was very humbled at that moment in time.
