A sober reminder
I took a trip to the Walker Art Center, applied for a job as a server at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, then went down to the offices to talk to former bosses Witt and Christi. It was good to catch up with them, and even better when the dynamic has shifted from them being in charge to just being friends, or friendly.
How I miss days at the Walker trapped in the basement arguing about art shows with a bunch of teenage kids. Or break dance battles in the gallery during the closing party at six in the morning. Pancakes at the Walker Art Center in the morning...
Not today though... Today was talk of friends losing touch and friends losing themselves.
I am very grateful for the head on my shoulders, as well as reminded that I need to move forward in various areas of my life. I can reminisce about the past, but I am glad I've moved on past a lot of it.
It reminds me of these lines:
I'm full up to the brink on what other people think,
And it's a shame that my relationships are always quick to sink.
The rest of the day was full of re-reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" and it has been re cemented in my mind as one of the best books that I have read. Now I am up too late, and have an interview in the morning...
Peace
