The horror perpetrated in Boston earlier this week had a real, visceral impact for me; I have family, friends and fraternity brothers who live in the area, who could have been at the finish line of the Boston Marathon when those bombs, IEDs, went off. Thankfully, my fears for their safety and well being are so far unfounded; a source of tremendous relief for me. There was a period of time, when all I was getting was voicemeails in response to calls to find out whether those I care about were alive, when the anger, fear, and utter frustration borne of being so far away and unable to help, was almost overwhelming. Again, I am extremely lucky and fortunate that so far no one I know and love were affected by the actions of the current suspects, but that does not dispell the sense of anger, hurt, and yes, impotence, as I watch the events unfold what is essentially my backyard. I've lived, in my time in Rhode Island, never more than a hour from Boston, and over the years I've been there many times; from multiple visits to the Boston Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium, to visits to Quincy Market, a memeroable day at Fenway Park to witness the last game of Red Sox legend Carl Yastremski against Detroit, to more recent adventures with my cousin, more like a big sister, to the Boston Brewing Company, home of the best beer in the world, Sam Adams, and a memorable time at the first bar in Boston to carry Sam Adams, Doyles in Boston, whose regulars welcomed us not only as fellow New Englanders but as members of the military; Boston is MY TOWN!!! And I am stuck in Arizona, when more than anything I want to go home...

Let me say this: this is not about Checnya, Islam, or any other rationalization for the carnage inflicted on the innocent of Boston and the world, who came together for love of running, companionship and solidarity. This was about the twisted need to inflict pain, death and suffering on others, for no other reason than the selfish need to feel important; this is about the individual, not about the community, not about humanity. This is the work of people who could not in any empathize with their fellow humans, but were so focused on their own pain that all they could do was inflict that pain on others, instead of finding more constructive ways of bringing everyone together. If you want to help, here are some ways: wear Boston and New England sports gear, wear anything related to the city of Boston, visit Boston, donate the families and victims of the attacks; if you like beer, drink Sam Adams! Whatever you do, remember this: the people in Boston are just like you, with the same dreams, desires, wishes as everyone else in this country, in this world, and what happens to the few, also happens to us all.

Hotness...penultimate hotness; how do you define it? Many have tried...fairness, gentleness, etc. but are they all inclusive? They are NOT!! What is the perfect woman? A shieldmaiden, that's who!! Strength, will, wit, perserverence, the knowledge of right and wrong... how cannot a grown male be not turned on by the sheer power of such a woman? GIVE ME SHIELDMAIDEN!!

Home agian, home again jiggity jig. Good evening Argentwyrm!!
Yup, I'm finally home, had my comp time, and I'm now back to work...UGHH! It's not that I don't like my job, which I do, but I really can't handle the interpersonal, and ultimately unecessary, interpersonal drama. I've always been described as a hopeless idealist, but still, expecting people to put aside their personal desires, especially when it's an actual core value, and they don't...I guess you just have to roll with the punches. Good thing I have a Get Out of Jail Free Card biggrin. Enough about my personal drama, how are you? I am in somewhat of a quandry; I'm looking to create a tatto sleeve for my right arm, that commemerates three generations of my family's service to this great nation, and our links to well deserved and universally recognized histyorical units, but I am somewhat unsure who would be the best local artists to execute my desires. Research on Google showed me that Inkaholics Anymous would be the best artists, based on their reviews on Google, but talking to some individuals who've had artwork done locally, they recommend Fast Lane, or an individual on 29th St...Torn. I want the best quality artwork, but I also want a good artist...any advice?

At long last, the journey comes to a close. Mark ye, it began in 1987, as I made the transition from boy to young man, and for while stalled soon after, but in the sand, dust, smoke and gods know what else is in the air here in Afghanistan, here and now it comes to the end, and what a long strange trip it's been. Figured it out yet? If not, a little more for ya, and may it do ya fine, I say true and you say thankee. What I speak of is a journey not taken by my feet, on ground solid or otherwise, but of the imagination, bourne along by the words of another, whose journeys both real and fantastical act not as guideposts along the way but a companion on the road we all travel as we make our way to the clearing at the end of the path. Still with me? Then let me ask you this: what was the ultimate lesson of the Dark Tower?

Yes, after many long years I've finnaly finished the original seven (yes, I know there's an eigth, but it only fleshes out the story already told, and does not change the end of the seventh) books of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. I started reading the The Dark Tower in 1987, the Gunslinger and the Drawing of the Three the last books I would read by Stephen King for many a year, until I found myself once again far from home in Afghanistan. I only brought with me a couple of books on this deployment, content to read whatever was already here while I have time on my hands. One of the books I found was Under the Dome, and I rediscovered why back in the late eighties I had read so many of Stehen King's works. As I lay in bed one night I had the thought to finally read the entire series in one go, to finish what I started long ago, and so a couple of orders from Barnes and Noble later I had all seven books, and I started from the beginning. Bittersweet memories from that time came back to mind as I turned the pages of the Gunslinger, no longer as heavy on the heart as they once were, and again I found myself travelling with Roland Deschain towards the tower at the end of the world. Along the way I met new and endearing companions, shared their moments of happiness and despair, tears of joy and sorrow and loss, and especially the laughter from those rare and unexpected moments; "Oy! Eld! Thankee!". And not 30 minutes ago I came to the end, to the top of the Tower with the gunslinger as he stood before the final door, and opened the way his ka, his singlemindedness and tenacity had created for him when he took his first steps along the path to the end of the world, and the beginning of another; or was it the next turning of the wheel of his life?

What is the lesson of the gunslinger and the Tower? I'm sure many a long debate on an almost inifintie number of points will never truly answer the question, but only breed more and more questions until one takes that final step across the threshold of the final door and finds themselves back where they started, and mostly none the wiser. I 'm pretty sure that as time marches on the wording of the question will never change, but the meanings it seeks will, especially if you take the journey again and again. So in answer to the slightly modified question I put forward before, at this point in my life what is the lesson of the gunslinger and the Tower to me? Journey's end means naught, when it brings you back to the start; stop and smell the roses, and when a door is drawn that takes you to another world, step off the path of the Beam and walk through to find again what was lost, because in the end, they're the most important things of all. Besides, the Tower isn't going anywhere, is it?

So, been a while. Sorry about that, been busy, building training programs, buying gear, and teaching the new peeps while at the same time learning better ways to train and do our jobs, so that we're not just the go to guys for basic medical quals, but the vision I've always had for us: Masters of Medicine, and in alll things prepared. Been busy trying to Push this philosophy, and to further my own education, while at the same time taking care of some personal issues in my pursuit of happiness; mainly finding a woman with whom to share my life, desires, and ambitions with, for the rest of my life. My cousin, who is more like my little sister, gets married in the beginning of July, and I'm am looking for a date to the wedding, because I'm looking to be the next in line as far as marriage goes. So, ladies, I'm looking for Mrs. Right, and this is what currently makes me HOT: slim, amost athletic builds, small boobs, blonde to red hair, gorgeous expressive eyes, great hips and ass, smart, intelligent and self comfident, feisty, able to hold her own, good with her hands, and above all; sweet, smart, sexy, and gorgeous. Anyone interested?

Putting myself on the market, beacause I'm horny as hell and more importantly I want a good relationship. Starting degrees. Finding ways to have some serious fun. Paying off credit card so I can buy more stuff. Details to follow.

Saul Zentz Company sues local English Pub

Here's an interesting story; one I don't like. Long story short, a pub in England, that most importantly has had the same name for over 20 years, is being sued by the rights holder for Tolkien's works, over it's name. What I find most surprising, and a bit disgusting, is that they did nothing when the Lord of the Rings movies came out...mad
