I was messing around on okcupid and someone made a journal entry, that showed up on recent journal entries, about an article they came across on The Morning Call site. I read it and believe is as much a show of intolerance as the person who's journal I was viewing. Honestly it pissed me the fuck off, so I replied to it on the form at the bottom that basically said underneath it that comments they don't like will be removed, which is a form of censorship. Anyway, I wanted to let people know about the article, especially the folks here at SG as it completely demeans everyone connected with SG and I respect the SGs and open mindedness.

Ok, I read your article, I stopped and took a few deep breaths, I think I am ready to respond. I will tear down the easiest of your statements to do so first, your statement placing motorcycle gangs in the "lowest segments of society." Before making such a statement you should have done a modicum of research. When people in the United States think of motorcycles one of the main brands that comes to mind is Harley-Davidson. So, let's take a look at the "Harley" for a second, the models most desired and most respected by other riders cost more than a mid-sized sedan. The majority of people who own Harleys are reliable employees earning a middle to upper middle class income. Also, that largest motorcycle "gangs" ride Harleys. The motorcycle began as an inexpensive alternative to the car, thereby being an option for private transportation for people that could not previously afford such a luxury. Things have changed though and the most desired motorcycles are expensive recreational vehicles which require more skill to operate than the gas guzzling soccer mom driven mini-van and the equally gas guzzling SUV that has never seen a road that required 4-wheel drive. Harley owners are often proud of their motorcycles and often want to be with others like themselves and share the experience of riding, which, if you have never done you are completely unqualified to comment upon.

Now lets move to the statement "'mixed martial arts' bloodfests, which put tattooed subhumans into cages to brutalize each other." First, to call anyone subhuman is completely unenlightened and shows a complete lack of tolerance for anything that does not fit perfectly into your little minded idea of what the world should be like. Second, the sentence is deliberately constructed to create a correlation between tattoos and subhumanity. And third, mixed martial artists are very skilled in various forms of unarmed combat and have spent years studying and not only strengthening their bodies, but minds as well. Many of them have more sense of respect for other people than you as most good dojos will not teach those who can not show respect.

And so I will move on to another quote, not that I have failed to make you look completely incompetent already. "This week, we learned that 36 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 have tattoos." Where are the sources of your first statistics stated? Where were was the population group used to obtain these numbers? How were those within the group used to create the statistics? I do not even see a footnote linking to any source information. There is no telling of the truth of the statistics as nothing backs them up. To give statistics, which are easily manipulated as it is, and give no source for the statistics is the same as spitting out any meaningless number you want.

I could easily expound upon your obvious prejudice against low income people, but I won't, I am not even going to go on to the statements which bring into question your level of bigotry. I am sure my post will be "removed by the moderator," which is censorship if you like to admit it or not. This protest of societal prejudice being published by The Morning Call will not end here though.
