ah, that was quite a refreshing break from sg! i had been spending much more time online that usual, and damn you can really tell the difference it makes in you! it made me so irritable, lethargic, gossipy, it was horrible! i even got into my very first thread scuffle.

now i see why people who spend their entire day on this site (and others, of course, i don't mean to pick on sg) are so miserable all the time. all people do is sit around and try to out-do each other, they try to prove they are smarter, funnier, snarkier than everyone else. it's sad, and i don't mean "sad" like i'm trying to disguise an insult. it literally makes me sad to think about how many people feel like they have to hide behind their computers just so they can interact with other people (hell, even writing emails to avoid talking on the phone or speaking face to face). people must think so little of themselves to have to resort to online friends and relationships in place of real ones. i know i've used this site to meet people too, but i use it to MEET people, and then build a friendship from there. i don't care how much you think you know someone, you don't know jack about them until you can physically interact with them. anyway, that's my rant. i'm just basing it on people i've known personally, and from what i can tell from people on this particular site. hope i didn't sound too hateful, i just wish people were more comfortable with themselves.

moving on to happier things, i'm in texas! yee haw! :shoots guns in air: i got in late friday night, and have been spending some quality time with mama. tomorrow i'm going to work with her to pull costumes for her next play. i did it a few years ago and had a lot of fun with it. wednesday i'll head up to san angelo, and this weekend is party time in austin! i think i'll be heading back a couple days later than planned, but i should be back home by the next weekend. and then i'll only have about three weeks until hubby comes...

oh! and i hate to brag, but this made me feel really good:
so saturday night i met up with my friend danny from college (we haven't seen each other in almost 7 years!) and his fiance stephanie at the ranch, a country bar near my mom's house. they had a live band playing, and i got asked to dance twice! and by that i mean they came up to the table, bent down, offered their hand, and politely asked for this dance. god i miss southern men sometimes. i graciously refused them both. between you and me, i would have loved to, but i can only lead the two step, not follow, and i didn't want to make an ass out of myself.
so then the lead singer asked for requests, so steph and i went up and asked for black betty. he said "i don't know it, but if there's any song in the world i wish i knew, it's that one!" and then a couple songs later he stopped and turned to me and said he still felt bad, so i called to him to play some johnny. they couldn't play a song (BOOOO!), but he did his best impression for me, and then dedicated the last song to me! you know, nothing in this world can compare to the way my husband makes me feel every day, but it is really nice to get attention from strangers. makes a gal feel attractive and desirable, like she's still got it after 6 1/2 years.
