So yeah, just got back from the first concert I've intentionally gone to in roughly 10 years.

Not as good as I'd hoped, but still a nice escape from the day to day bullshit. The sound system sucked massive amounts of ass, and not in the good way, but sometimes incredibly, deafeningly loud is more important than subtle nuances like "hearing the vocalist".

Now taking bets as to how many days my ears will continue to ring.

Edit: Since I am now fractionally less lazy at 9:46 AM the following morning, the above-mentioned show included the following musical combos:

High On Fire:

Torche:

Continuing the Muppet-based theme of recent lazy-ass non-updates.

So, I didn't get into the lone college I applied to.

Apparently this is due to a lack of a college-level math class on my resume, a requirement that I only found out about after my application was rejected and I spoke to someone in the admissions office.

Said admissions office person was nice enough to look at my transcript and suggest I appeal the decision, so now I have to wait and see how that shakes out, or if I can get into another similarly local and cheap school.

One of my options may have to be community college. Which I shouldn't think of as being beneath me, but you know, as someone who has spent a very long time drastically overestimating my intellectual gifts that's just not going to happen anytime soon.

Disco with books.

He would only read a book if he found a copy someone else had thrown away.

Smarter to rely on fate than commerce, he said.

He only kept a book if the copy he found had been partially burned.

He reckoned that the previous owner either hated that damn book so much they didn't want anyone else to ever read it, or loved that damn book so much they'd suffer through the cold rather than lose it to the fire.

Either way, anything with that much passion attached to it was worth hanging on to for a while.

A List Of Things That Make Birthday Celebrations Less Celebratory

1) Intense lower back pain.

A List Of Things That Make Certain Recent Life Choices Seem Like A Slightly Better Idea

1) Getting to play soccer with a bunch of hyperactive 2nd graders.
2) Writing an essay for my intro English comp class and having the professor read it out loud in class as an example of the type of writing he's looking for.

Academy Fight Song

Starting next month, I will (fingers crossed) be:

Taking a college course for the first time in approximately two decades.

Tutoring grade school kids for the first time in approximately ever.

I am still unsure if either or both of these are the best ideas ever, or the worst.
