i lost my virginity: and it really wasn't much worth remembering =P
gets me hot: That first sip of coke. the rest of the can pretty much goes to waste...
fantasy: I'm working towards livin' the dream baby, no time for fantasizing.
body mods: Just the one tat on the right shoulder.
most humbling moment: Accidently dropping a lid container into a flotation cell and nearly blocking up. Coulda costs hundreds of thousands in lost production, whoops =D
makes me happy: A nice quiet beer with mates that turns into a few loud beers! Opening up eBay presents! Organising plans for the future. METAL ODYSSEY!!!!
into: Metallurgy. Learning from other people. Questioning everything. Teaching myself new skills. Gaming with friends. Metal... lots and lots of it!
makes me sad: Waiting in lines... Don't care what it's for, I hate them. GODDAMN LINES!!! Missing out on really big gigs due to work. Nothing much really.
crush: M'lady ;)
Got home from work last night, Melly is taking the day off work and snoozing in bed, and I'm sitting near a window watching, listening and breathing in the rainfall. Sounds like a perfect time to whip-up a blog.
For the tl;dr crowd:
*spoilers*
Onto the extrapolation!
WORK STUFF
It's always a bit difficult deciphering if I'm where I wanted to be this far along (nearly 4 and a half years) in my Metallurgical career, but by all reasonable estimates I'm going pretty well. Moving from a green-as-can-be, scum-bag Graduate Metallurgist to being considered for a Senior Metallurgist position in only 4 years (which typically takes a Met of 6-8 years of experience in that particular metal) says that I'm moving in the right direction.
I've also got a big whiteboard that I've basically covered entirely in solving a problem I've encountered on one of my projects regarding fluid dynamics, so I feel like a mother-fucking scientist too instead of the typical bucket-chemist and hack accountant
One of the great pleasures in my life is getting picked up at the airport after a swing of work. It's such a seemingly small gesture, but reliably having it as soon as I step off that plane puts me at ease almost instantly. Thanks Melleah
HOUSE STUFF
So far, so good! Hasn't really been that stressful yet (I'm into pre-start, no slab on the ground etc but I own the land), but that's mostly because I meticulously check other peoples work.
I know that at work, in every report and presentation, I strive to prepare and perform it in the most professional manner warranted, and I fuck up. I fuck up the smallest of details pretty damn consistently. But that's OK because once it's passed over another set of eyes it all seems so obvious and ho-ho a lessoned is learned thanks buddy-o-pal.
The people who organise my finance, settlement, real estate and housing are not my "buddies".
But...
