Its been a bit but here are a few things:
My birthday was good, really good actually. I started it off celebrating with Chelsea which was nice. THen my mom stopped by. She brought me something I wasn't expecting. She brought me something my father gave me when I was much younger, a denim jacket with a red lining my father bought me when I was in elementary school. I don't know where she found it but she took it to a tailor and had it restored. It's too small to wear of course, but it was from my father so it means a lot to me. She also brought me some works from an artist in Louisiana who had painted images on the roof tiles from New Orleans. It was really impressive work. Then I hung out with friends. We had an idea to see how many restaurants I could get in and get free meals due to it being my birthday. As it became later we thought about going to other states to hit restaurants in other times zones that had not closed. We ended the night watching Kill Bill. One note about my birthday, I have traveled around a good bit over the years. I sometimes forget how many friends I have. I wanted to say thanks for the emails and the calls. It meant a lot. It was nice hearing what some of you are up to. I promise I will come back and visit and say hello.
I was going through Decatur TN to see a client a few days ago and I saw this cardboard sign on the side of the road that said "Back Rubz" it then said by appointment only and pointed to a trailer on the hill. It scared me to think that anyone would go up there. I told one of my friends about it and his first thought was "lets go." I didn't.
There is a place in Chattanooga called Sugar's Ribs. It see the sign every day. Yesterday I was driving and I look in the lane next to me and see the sugar's ribs image on the side of a passing catering truck. It's like its chasing me. Has anyone been to it? Let me know, I'm curious if its any good.

By the way, my Christmas was fantastic. I have never had a tree that looked so good. Next to Halloween this is my favorite time of year. A lot of people like it for the presents. I like it for the compassion that seems to exude from most people. It seems as evident on people's faces as it is in the salvation army buckets everywhere.
When I was 14 or so my mom sat me down to watch a video with her. The video is of me when I was 7 or so sitting on a department store Santa's lap. In the video I detailed a long list of stuff that i wanted; super power figures, he-man figures, lazar tag gear and such. At the end of it, I capped it off with saying "You know what my dad wants santa? He wants a new wife. He doesn't like my mom's cooking." In the video there is an awkward silence and then you can hear my mom gasp from aside the camera.
I don't know if you knew it, but last month was national write a novel month. So if you didn't bang out that novel, keep the ideas flowing.
Don't go see the punisher. I saw it and halfway through it I was crying because I had spent money on it. I have seen a lot of bad movies, but this was so bad you couldn't even laugh at it. Avoid it.
The phrase "hero" is an interesting one. I spent a large part of my life attempting to define a hero. I have read comics for most of my life. These people are heroes , but they are fictional. For a long time I tried to figure out how to be that in real life. I joined the free masons because I knew that they helped children through charity. I became a counselor because I wanted to help people in that way. Some days I feel like a hero, some days I don't. Those are mostly when I am trying to get someone out of a gang and it isn't going well. Don't get me wrong, I don't wear a superman or spiderman outfit under my clothes, but I do tend to think that people who help people are the somebody's heroes.
I always said I didn't have any pet peeves, but I do have two; people who throw cigarettes out the car window and people who park in handy-cap spots.
I don't know your personal thoughts on the village people, but I do dance to some of their stuff when it comes on the radio, particularly YMCA. I was driving today and the song was on the radio. I stopped at a crosswalk with the windows down today listening to it. While stopped I looked over at a group of teens laughing. It might have been for the song it might have been for something else, but it is a good dancing song.
Speaking of gyms, I go to one. Just about every two visits I see this guy with a mental retardation diagnosis who I have never met, I don't even know his name, but every time he see me he runs up and gives me a big hug and a handshake. I make some small conversation as I do with most people I don't know. I wonder if we have met somewhere though and I just don't remember it.
Do you think the people inside the transformers all crushed and get mashed up when the cars transform? I always wanted a transformer so that in cases of traffic jams, we could walk over the other cars.
