Ive been a member of SG for almost six months now, and havent yet posted a blog. I really dont know why I havent gotten around to doing it; I guess I just assumed that no one would be interested in what I had to say. I have thought about doing blog posts where I review the stuff I buy (comics, TF figures, DVD sets, etc.), but as a starter blog post, I figured Id probably share a story: how I came to be a member of SG.
It all started last year, when I attended the Vancouver Taboo Naughty but Nice Sex Show. I had been aware of SG before then, but hadnt really been interested in it until then. Most of my interest came from meeting the SG who were @ the booth: Tita, Rydell, Meshell, Pirate, Shanti, Aadie, Alkaline, Cruella, Voodou and Glitch were there at various points throughout the weekend, and needless to say I spent a lot of time at the booth over the course of the weekend.
Among other things, I expressed my interest in the then-upcoming SG comic series from IDW, which had just been announced at the time, and how much I was really looking forward to it. By the end of the weekend, I had bought the Beauty Redefined book and the Italian Villa and SG Must Die DVDs, but held off on buying a membership on the grounds that I couldnt really afford it at the time.
Shortly afterward, I connected with Tita and Cruella over Facebook (along with Aadie, who sadly got kicked off shortly thereafter; she has since come back on) and it was through the three of them that my interest in SG really took off. I talked to Tita over Facebook and posted my thoughts on each issue of the SG comic as they were released. She said that she enjoyed reading my reviews, which made me smile. I decided shortly thereafter that, if SG had a booth at the next years Taboo show, along with getting my single copies of the SG comic signed, I would finally get a membership.
Unfortunately, I learned a few weeks before the show that SG wouldnt be @ Taboo that year. I was saddened by that, but later found out that they would be at the inaugural Fan Expo Vancouver. I had already been planning to go, but knowing that Tita, Aadie, Cruella and other local SG would be there sealed the deal. So much so that, the first thing I did when I got there, I sought them out and paid for my membership, which I used to log onto the site later that day.
And so, here I am, six months or so later. And so, in closing, I say
My name is Alex, and I am a fan of SuicideGirls.
